JAS Thailand Puts Emphasis on Automotive

8/20/2019

JAS TH nominates National Automotive Account Manager

Picture
As of 2017, the Thailand automotive industry was the largest in Southeast Asia and the 12th largest in the world. The Thailand industry has an annual output of near two million vehicles (passenger cars and pickup trucks), more than countries such as Belgium, the United Kingdom, Italy, Czech Republic, and Turkey.

Most of the vehicles built in Thailand are developed and licensed by foreign producers, mainly Japanese, American, and Chinese but with several other brands as well for CKD production, notably BMW and Mercedes. The Thai car industry takes advantage of the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) to find a market for many of its products. Thailand is one of the world's biggest markets for pickup trucks with over 50 percent market share for one-ton trucks.

Within this favorable context, our VP Automotive Vertical, Jim Ryan and our Global Account Director – Automotive Vertical APAC, Shane Ravel joined the first Automotive Sales Campaign in Thailand in March 2019, where they met with first/second tier suppliers such as LEAR, BorgWarner, Faurecia, CNH, IHI Turbo, American Axle, Continental, etc. The initiative has been managed and coordinated by Franck Portet (NSM for JAS TH) and his team members Mr. Kiattikhun Vunthong and Ms. Anong Chaliawsin.

In order to mirror the vertical global initiative, JAS Thailand has assigned Kiattikhun Vunthong as National Account Manager – Automotive Vertical, who will be focusing on the development of automotive accounts in the “Detroit of the East” (Rayong area). JAS Thailand has already had a very productive year with Jim, Shane and the JAS TH team and are looking forward to having Shane in Thailand again to explore the huge potential available.

With Kiattikhun’s experience and the sales effort of our BDM – Anong Chaliawsin, from our Laem Chabang office, we are adding additional focus on the Automotive vertical.

With the expertise of the JAS TH team and the support from the global JAS Automotive industry, JAS Thailands looks forward to expanding and enabling their customers to have the best support available!

JAS in China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2018

2/14/2019

Picture
Being the second largest economy and second largest importer and consumer around the globe, China has entered a new development stage during which consumption keeps increasing, indicating an enormous potential for the growth of consumption and import. To boost trade between China and other countries, as well as further open China market to the world, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and Shanghai Municipal Government hosted China International Import Expo (CIIE), the first-ever import-oriented expo in Shanghai China, on November 5th – 10th 2018. The expo is jointly sponsored by the World Trade Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. JAS China is proud to be invited as one of the 2,800 exhibitors in the Shanghai expo, attracting global distributors in inquiring importing service to China.

According to source, China is estimated to import more than 10 trillion US dollars’ worth of products and services to meet the need of its 1.4 billion people in the next five years. It provides a historic opportunity for global companies to enter this massive market. JAS China has developed its business presence along the coastal gateways and major cities in China, and continues to succeed in meeting customers’ expectation of fast and efficient one-stop solution of air freight, ocean freight, rail freight, local trucking, warehousing and logistics services. Customers who sell products to China could entrust their pallets to JAS China with a peace of mind, as the professional team will help customers distribute their products not only in top-tier cities like Shanghai and Beijing, but also further into lower-tier cities.

China's huge demand for imported products and services will continue to provide a historic opportunity for global companies to enter its massive market for the long run. During CIIE, JAS China has met a lot of clients, potential clients and suppliers and discussed possible cooperation in and out China.

“JAS has been and will continue to be a strategic and important partner to help clients and suppliers connecting China to the world.”, added Andrea Azzimonti, Sales Director of JAS China and Hong Kong.

JAS China Launches Block Train Service to Germany

9/18/2018

Picture
On August 16th 2018, the commencement of the first China-Europe block train service was marked by a ceremony in Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province. It was attended by top government officials from Fuzhou, Customs officers, key representatives from local enterprises as well as JAS corporate representatives from both China and Germany.

The attendees included Bruce Ning, General Manager of Northern and Central China, Kitty Yuen, Head of Ocean Freight (South China), Steven Su, Branch Manager (Xiamen), Tina Zhou, Branch Manager (Ningbo) and Bernd Scheunemann, BDM - Frankfurt (Germany).

The launch of the first block train service was of enormous significance for both the Fuzhou government and JAS China. The train, carrying its first dedicated 41-containers containing products produced by local companies, marked the official start of a railway partnership between Fuzhou and JAS China. As part of China’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, both Fuzhou and JAS China seek to facilitate trade links between China, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. It is strongly believed this will bring much better connectivity and will act to further boost trade for the local surrounding catchment area among Jiangxi province.

The move follows close collaboration among local municipalities, shippers, consignees, rail operator China Rail Express, local customs, and JAS China being the end to end logistics service provider. This train departs from Fuzhou, passes through the Manzhouli border and onwards through Russia, Belorussia, and Poland before finally arriving at Hamburg in Germany. This dedicated train service traverses 5 countries, traveling a total of 16,000 km in 17 days. JAS strives to do its best in providing customers with secure and reliable door-to-door rail service, which presents greater flexibility as faster option to sea freight and cheaper than air freight for time-sensitive goods. In addition, GPS monitoring and other value-added services are also available.

JAS China, with its head office in Hong Kong has 17 owned offices across China to cope with the ever-increasing logistics needs in the region. The organization has over 600 specialized staff, offers a wide range of products in air freight, ocean freight, sea/air services, customs brokerage, logistics warehouses and other related services.

JAS China Receives "Silk Road Panda Award"

9/18/2018

Picture
Organized by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (as “CICC”), Panda d’Oro Award 2018 and Annual Gala Dinner was hosted in Shanghai on June 9th, 2018. The award ceremony commended Italian and Chinese enterprises that have made excellent achievements in promoting bilateral trade between China and Italy. JAS China was honored with the “The Silk Road Panda Award" for its contribution and engagement in projects aimed at increasing connectivity along the new Silk Road. Bruce Ning, General Manager, and Mario Tasso, Head of Logistics of JAS Forwarding (China) Co., Ltd., attended the ceremony and received the award on JAS’s behalf.

Benefited by the promotion of ‘One Belt One Road’ policy by the Chinese Government, there has been significant development of rail infrastructures between China and Europe. Therefore, JAS China has now also extended its scope of business from traditional air freight, sea freight, warehousing, and logistics to rail freight between China and Europe, which is driven by strong consumer demand and limited air freight space in the market.

JAS China provides door-to-door FCL and LCL rail services on both Eastbound and Westbound, transporting light industrial goods, electronics, mechanical, and automotive parts. Eastbound shipments will be consolidated at Hamburg or Duisburg hubs operated by JAS Germany, and devanned at Zhengzhou, Wuhan or Chengdu hubs for further local trucking distribution. On the other hand, shipments going Westbound will be handled in JAS’s CFS service hubs in Wuhan or Hefei in China, and Hamburg or Warsaw in Europe. Rail freight service is a perfect solution if customers seek cost-effect transportation compared to air freight, and at the same time, with shorter transit time compared to ocean freight.

In addition, as JAS China is actively involved in logistics and freight forwarding services for Italian companies in China, Mario Tasso is pleased to be appointed as the coordinator of CICC’s Logistics Working Group in 2018.

JAS MALAYSIA DONATES TO REEF CHECK

8/2/2018

Picture
On May 31st, 2018, JAS Malaysia handled the airfreight shipment of a Glass Bottle Crushing Machine from New Zealand to Tioman Island, Malaysia, on behalf of their customer, Reef Check Malaysia.

Reef Check is an international marine conservation non-profit organization and was established in the USA in 1996. Reef Check was then established in Malaysia in 2007. Reef Check protects, restores, and revives coral reefs. They conduct an annual coral reef check survey to assess the health of the reefs around the islands of Malaysia and strive to educate and build public awareness about coral reef rehabilitation programs.

The shipment handover was at Mersing jetty and arrived in good condition in less than a week from when it was shipped. The machine will be used to recycle all glass bottles on the island to reduce waste. The recycled glass silica waste will be used to build a concrete base for a coral reef rehabilitation unit.

On July 25th, 2018, JAS Malaysia not only channeled the proceeds of the airfreight shipment, but also presented a check donation to Mr. Julian Hyde, General Manager of Reef Check Malaysia. The donation was presented by Managing Director of JAS Malaysia, Mr. Mervin Lin, at the JAS Malaysia Bangsar HQ.

Both organizations took time as well to exchange thoughts regarding the possibility of working together for future projects.

“The recently delivered glass crushing machine has proved a great hit on Tioman, and it is now helping us to solve a huge problem there – dealing with the mountain of glass that has grown over the years. The crushed glass is now being used to make concreate that forms the base of reef rehabilitation units, so it is being recycled to great effect.

We are very grateful to JAS for their help and expertise in getting the machine delivered – it’s something we know absolutely nothing about. Their service was quick and efficient throughout, and we are very grateful to them for that, and their kind donation towards our work.” – Mr Julian Hyde, General Manager - Reef Check Malaysia

JAS Projects - Oil & Gas China Break-Bulk Success

5/8/2018

Picture
The JAS Projects - Oil & Gas China office recently moved five cactus nozzles on container vessels as a break-bulk shipment from China to the job site located in the Jubail industry zone in KSA. The five cactus nozzles belong to a shutdown order of an EPC Project. Dims & weight of the cactus nozzles:  L6.90m x W6.60m x H3.30mm / 40 tons each.

JAS PO&G China had to move the cactus nozzles from Maoming city in China to the job site within a short time frame. Given the importance of the cargo, the JAS PO&G China office planned out the  most economical method and route within the given time frame for moving the cargo.

Considering the extreme dimensions, the JAS PO&G China office mobilized a sea-going barge to bring the cargo from Maoming to Shekou seaport to connect to the ocean vessel. At Shekou seaport, the JAS PO&G China office worked together with a container carrier to load the five cactus nozzles directly from the barge onto a container vessel under the break bulk model, by which the transit time ex. Shekou port to Damman port was managed  & shortened.

Upon cargo arrival at Dammam port, JAS PO&G DMM office positioned axles hydraulic trailers to receive the cargo directly from the vessel and delivered to jobsite at Jubail industry zone.

All five cactus nozzles were successfully delivered to the job site prior to the shutdown date and in good condition.

In 2018, JAS Projects Oil & Gas Australia and JAS Australia were awarded ongoing trusted trader status by the Australian Border Force (Customs). The Australian Trusted Trader logo is an internationally recognized mark of quality that signifies a business has met or exceeded international supply chain security and trade compliance standards.

Benefits of Australian Trusted Trader
The Australian Trusted Trader program (ATT) rewards accredited businesses with a growing range of trade facilitation benefits to improve international market access.

These benefits currently include:
  • A dedicated Account Manager - the single point of contact between your business and the Australian Border Force
  • Priority Trade Services when requesting duty drawbacks, refunds, and advanced rulings on tariff, valuation and origin though our National Trade Advice Centre
  • A lighter touch at the border when importing goods
  • Use of the ATT logo, which is also recognized by international customs administrations
  • Access to Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs)

Trusted Traders have access to differentiated examinations in countries where Australia has signed a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA).

ATT has established MRAs between the Australian Government and some of our key trading partners including:
  • New Zealand Customs Service
  • Republic of Korea Customs Service
  • Canada Border Services Agency
  • Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department.

MRAs provide Australian Trusted Trader exporters with faster access to international markets through reciprocal arrangements with our MRA partner countries. Recognition of the ATT logo in these countries builds confidence in Australian businesses and the security of their international supply chain.

MRAs are currently being pursued with a number of other key trading partners including Singapore, Thailand and China.
  • A monthly report on all goods imported and exported under the business’ ABN
  • Streamlined processes to become an Accredited Sponsor under the Temporary Work (Skilled) Visa (subclass 457) Programme
  • A ‘seat at the table’ to work in partnership with the Department and ABF
  • An invitation to the annual ATT Symposium - an invitation only event for accredited Trusted Traders
  • Consolidated Cargo Clearance enabling Trusted Trader importers, or their licensed customs brokers’, to lodge a single import declaration for consolidated cargo for all sea cargo types and for air cargo.
