With a 70% reduction in passenger flights since February 2020, the overall global air freight capacity is down about 25% from this time last year. Limited space on limited flights means frequent delays and interruptions of supply chains globally.

Reduced global air cargo capacity, blank sailings, carrier solvency, increasing port congestion, and last-mile delivery delays are adding to an ever-growing riskier global environment that threatens supply chains.
Uncertain times often require creative measures. As shippers look to replenish inventory levels as well as budget logistics costs in such an unpredictable environment, partnering with a freight forwarder such as JAS helps to reduce such risks and cost concerns.
JAS has always worked closely with shippers to offer solutions that balance planning with responsiveness and agility. The COVID-19 pandemic highlights this need as shippers continue to benefit from the expertise of JAS during this crisis.
For several years, JAS Italy has worked with several Italian Government institutions by serving their logistics requirements. The relationship has become even closer during the pandemic as JAS took charge of a certain Italian Government institution’s import/export distribution process to obtain and distribute Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) commodities.
JAS initially arranged shipments from China, Brazil, and South Africa mainly through general cargo urgent flights. However, as demand dramatically increased, JAS recognized that the available market capacity was not meeting the needs of its customers. As a result, JAS ramped up the use of charter flights to better meet customer requirements.
Since February, JAS has moved millions of masks along with protective suits, visors, gloves, respirators, pulmonary ventilators, test tubes, and swabs.
By chartering flights, JAS was able to help other customers as well. For example, a German-based provider of medical and hygiene products turned to JAS to supply N95 masks to the governments of Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. JAS utilized multiple chartered flights from Shanghai to Frankfurt to distribute not only to the governments involved but also to pharmacies for wider distribution to non-governmental organizations and the public at large.
JAS was able to support customers in Peru, Colombia, and Mexico building southbound connections with the charter flights arriving to the USA from Asia.
The ability to rapidly charter flights between countries could not have been accomplished in such a quick and efficient manner without the expertise of the JAS World Air Freight Team (WAT) whose close relationship with a number of aircraft owners allowed JAS to find the right equipment, mostly 747-8 and 747-4 cargo planes, at the right time and in the right location for its customers.
Collaboration with JAS China was crucial as requirements for moving Personal Protection Equipment changed almost on a daily basis. Communication was a key success factor with JAS China establishing a daily communication channel to keep the whole JAS network up to date with the latest information.
JAS has now implemented full scheduled flight operations in the transatlantic corridor. Offering weekend flights from Chicago to Frankfurt and back.
JAS is also continuing special charter flights both with cargo aircraft or ghost flights from Shanghai to Chicago and from Hong Kong to Los Angeles.
Through the We Qare program, the airline is donating 1 million kilos of freight space on its airplanes to selected customers around the world to give to the charities of their choice.
JAS Worldwide took advantage of this fantastic program on behalf of the World Food Program and moved almost 50 tons of Personal Protective Equipment and supplies from Shanghai, China to Dhaka, Bangladesh at the end of July, free of charge.

In late June and early July 2020 JAS Aerospace Mexico transported 3 Helicopters from a Helicopter School located in Veracruz Airport (General Heriberto Jara) to Mexico City, Benito Juarez Airport, Terminal 2.
This moved took place between June the 30th 2020 & July the 1st 2020. This transport required 2 flat bed trucks to be used to transport the 3 Helicopters. Besides managing logistics of the domestic trucking required to make this transport possible, JAS Aerospace Mexico was also in charge of handling the crane required to load the cargo at the origin as well as unload at the destination. The loading took around 4 hours of operation time, plus 3 hours for unloading.
The mission was a total success, the 3 Helicopters were delivered on time and without any issue. These Helicopters are used for training and have 2 passengers cabin seating in each. With maximum take off gross weight of 794kg, empty weight (standard configuration) 500kg, with a useful load of 294kg. They are 6.76mt long, 1.99mt wide, and have a height of 2.65mt.

In May of 2020 longtime JAS partner Aviagen® and sister company Hubbard® required a large shipment of live, day-old chicks be transported to Bangladesh from the United States and France. These chicks needed to arrive the next day to their destination, safely and in good health. With the successful delivery of the chicks to Aviagen's customer in Bangladesh the broiler breeding stock will produce 110,393,893 kilograms (243,376,874 pounds) of chicken meat for the people living in Bangladesh.
This important shipment had to go out amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions it has brought to the shipping industry, as well as required expertise to navigate the mine field of other special requirements in order to successfully deliver this live cargo next day, safely, and efficiently.
JAS Live Animals regularly organizes airfreight shipments to various destinations, and this shipment was important to Aviagen and marked a historic shipment for the company. Quoted from Aviagen "Several characteristics contribute to the historic nature of this shipment. First, it represents the most grandparent and parent stock chicks ever to be exported internationally in a single shipment. And it is the first-time multiple brands of multi-generational chicks destined for different poultry companies have shared an international flight." JAS is honored to be part of such a historical event in the Live Animal Industry and to continue to work with Aviagen on future shipments.
This shipment required specialized pallets to be built, as well as overnight feeding to be done for the chicks on their long journey. The pallets, built in the USA, had to merge with the pallets built in France, by a competitor. Thanks to the dedication of the night shift, through their feedings and follow-ups the chicks were under constant care, and thanks to the partnership and clear communication between the customers, forwarders, and airlines this critical shipment was successful.

On March 31st the HARTMANN GROUP began utilizing JAS’ charted flight operations to facilitate the supply of masks throughout Europe. Based in Heidenheim, Germany, HARTMANN is a leading provider of medical and hygiene products, with its core expertise being in wound treatment, infection prevention, surgical supplies, and personal healthcare.
HARTMANN turned to JAS to help it supply critically needed N95 masks to the governments of Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. These shipments are flown by JAS from Shanghai to Frankfurt for distribution to not only government entities, but also to pharmacies for wider distribution to non-governmental organizations and the public at large.
JAS continues to leverage its expertise in chartered flight operations, export and import clearance, and general distribution services for HARTMANN as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to put pressure on supply chains throughout the globe. JAS is committed to supporting efforts of customers like HARTMANN as they work to provide medical supplies when and where they are needed most.

JAS Projects Italy is proud to announce that they have successfully performed shipments for approx. 10.000 FRT. in 2019. The majority of these shipments came from Italy to Mozambique.
All cargo has been moved via regular FCL service by dry containers and special equipment, in particular, open top and flat rack out of gauge. Many shipments consist of on ro-ro cargo such as Terex Cranes and Merlo Machines.
These shipment contracts are related to the Mozambique LNG Projects, for the construction of 2 onshore LNG trains in Afungi (Palma).
With the success of these many shipments JAS is excited to see JAS Projects continue to assist in Afungi projects in the future. There will be new and interesting perspectives for 2020 as JAS Projects Italy plans to bid for the main Tender for another Afungi Project.

JAS Motorsport Logistics, based out of Europe, has been providing services for more than ten years for well-known car brands, acting as the logistics supplier for cars and car parts to a variety of race events around the globe.
This year, JAS Motorsport Logistics is handing services for the Blancpain World Challenge Series in Asia, for the Sepang Intl Circuit, Buriram Chang Intl Circuit, Suzuka Circuit, Fuji Speedway, Yeongam Intl Circuit, and finishing the season at Shanghai Intl Circuit. JAS Motorsport Logistics moved 30 containers (40’ each) to the race sites in Asia, to each of the circuits.

The annual JAS Worldwide Sales Team meeting took place between July 29th and August 2nd 2019 at the JAS Global Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
The week-long meeting brought together the JAS Global CEO, the Executive Vice Presidents of Sales and Marketing, Strategic Development, and the VPs of sales from EMEA, APAC, Italy, the USA & Canada, and Latin America. Also attending were the Executive Vice Presidents from EMEA, APAC, the Americas, and Italy.
The gathering was centered around a series of workshops that are designed to aid each region with their sales plans for 2020. Participants are encouraged to work as a team on each plan, knowing that anything that is done in one region affects all other regions.
It is always a pleasure to spend time with our regional heads of sales. The workshop format adopted this year helped the team to produce original ideas on how to accelerate our growth even in a difficult market. I am proud of this team and am looking forward to the implementation of those ideas.

The JAS Aid & Relief Logistic office based in Rome, IT, recently delivered an urgent supply of ebola vaccines to a high profile humanitarian agency in Entebbe, Uganda. This shipment is a fundamental step for the vaccination campaign aimed to defeat ebola in the D.R. Congo and will cover the needs of thousands of people.
The transportation carried 345 pallets for a total of 65,50 tons and 320 CBM. JAS Aid & Relief Logistics had to move the medications from Germany to Uganda in the fastest possible way. This was achieved by reaching Liege airport, Belgium, where a dedicated hired charter B747-400F aircraft was ready to fly directly to Entebbe airport, Uganda.
Vaccines were successfully delivered in less than a couple of days from origin warehouse to destination, providing a punctual service, crucial in these situations.
With road conditions and the situation continuing to remain volatile in the eastern part of the Central African Republic, the flow of relief cargo to the area has been steadily hampered.
Mali, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Southern Sudan are destinations where the need of relief cargo is dire, and difficult to traverse.
The Yemen war has been defined as the world's worst humanitarian crisis, with the conflict continuing on since 2015. This war creates limited logistic availability when it comes to relief cargo getting to the locations where it is most needed.

As informed in March by our CEO, Mr. Marco Rebuffi, JAS Worldwide and GreenCarrier Freight Services (greencarrier.com) have formed a strategic alliance with the intent to expand trade and business between the Nordic and Baltic Sea region and the rest of the world.
Since then, a sales and operations meeting took place with JAS EMEA Management. Martin Spitzli – JAS EMEA VP of Air, and François-Xavier Mollet – JAS EMEA VP of Sales, both participated in Greencarrier’s Country Management meeting in Gothenburg to integrate our two companies. Martin Spitzli also participated in Riga (Latvia) to their Air Freight Management meeting.
On his side, Brahim Jarmache – JAS WW VP Agents, is working diligently to organize all the necessary set-up with each Greencarrier country offices in order to guarantee a smooth operations and netting integration.
Now, the focus is on our mutual development to make sure we have a full grip on the potential of our development. For this, one important milestone was the selection, by François-Xavier and Martin Svantesson – CCO of Greencarrier Freight Services, of Global & Multinational Accounts that JAS and Greencarrier will target and develop together. These companies are mainly local multinationals like Alfa Laval, Huqsvarna, SKF, Eletrolux, Ericsson, Tetra Pak, among others.

Under the alliance agreement, JAS and Greencarrier Freight Services will provide freight and logistics services through JAS´ global network and Greencarrier's extensive operations throughout the Nordics and the Baltics. Both companies will represent each other exclusively in their respective territories.

JAS SCS examines ways to improve current flow models to leverage a greater degree of automation, improve visibility and communication, and reduce processing time. SCS may also analyze current transportation procedures in relation to demand and inventory requirements to offer solutions to increase speed to market, reduce costs, improve visibility, and minimize waste. July 18, 2016 – Cargolux Airlines International S.A. honors its top customers, including JAS Forwarding Worldwide, for their continued support and trustful cooperation by adding their name and logos to the livery of its aircraft with a ‘Powered By’ slogan.
The first three Cargolux 747 freighters now carry the added branding of a major customer, one being JAS Forwarding Worldwide, each logo along with the familiar, distinctive Cargolux colors. More company names will appear on additional members of the fleet in the near future and JAS is honored to be one of the first customers honored with a "Powered By" slogan. With this gesture, Cargolux underlines the importance of its successful long-term relations with the world’s freight forwarders who play an important role in the global supply chains and who continue to power Cargolux’s success. This was the case on Monday July 18, 2016 when JAS Forwarding Worldwide management and Cargolux management witnessed and celebrated the unveiling of the "Powered By JAS Forwarding Worldwide" insignia on one of their 747 freighters.
