SERVING A PANAMANIAN ORPHANAGE

NEPAL EARTHQUAKE RELIEF EFFORT

SAMOA TSUNAMI ASSISTANCE

Recently, JAS Panama assisted with painting a school serving local orphans.

​For the orphanage, this has not been a possibility since they must stay focused on other expenses to stay operational. Not having the building repainted could cause damage to the structure over time, resulting in expenses the school could not afford, In addition to painting the school, JAS Panama provided the orphanage with other donations such as food, clothes, and toys.

In May and June of 2015 JAS contributed over $25,000 to the relief and rebuilding effort in Nepal.

​This took the form of four distinct initiatives to which JAS and its employees contributed:​

  • Meeting the immediate needs of the people of Nepal with supplies.
  • Supporting the efforts of relief workers like Sarah Snodgrass, who traveled to the villages of Nepal to stand with other individuals in the direct aftermath of the quake to assist struggling Nepalese families with home rebuilding efforts. Sarah's Relief Journal about those efforts can be found HERE.
  • Assisting Love Justice International (formally Tiny Hands International) with long term building initiatives in Nepal such as quality-built children's homes.
  • Supporting the efforts of Five14 in the rebuilding of a school in Ghyangphedi, Nepal, which was completely destroyed in the 2015 earthquakes.​

For about 20 years our agent in New Zealand, Jenners, has worked with Rotary International in NZ to collect, store and distribute the Rotary Emergency Response Kits.

Following the earthquake and tsunami, Air New Zealand were able to supply space on their 777 aircraft which was making a special flight to Apia later that day. On arrival in Apia, the Emergency Response Kits were cleared by the Rotary Club of Apia and then distributed to needy families who had lost their possessions in the tsunami.
