US & Kenya Enter into Negotiations for a Proposed Trade Deal

The US Trade Representative notified Congress of the Administrations intent to enter into negotiations with the Republic of Kenya for a U.S.-Kenya trade agreement. The Administration's aim in negotiations with Kenya is to address both tariff and non-tariff barriers and to achieve free, fair, and reciprocal trade.

USMCA to Enter into Force July 1st

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer notified Congress on April 24th that the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement will enter into force on July 1, 2020. Following that notification to Congress, the U.S. certified to Mexico and Canada that it's ready for the NAFTA replacement to take effect.

Aluminum Import Monitoring and Analysis System

The Commerce Department is proposing new regulations that would create an Aluminum Import Monitoring and Analysis System. Similar to the Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis System in place since 2005, the new scheme would require importers of aluminum or their customs brokers to submit information in an online portal to obtain an automatically issued license, then submit the license number with entry summary documentation. Comments are being accepted on this new regulation until May 29.
