A dedicated team of JAS Hong Kong employees, led by Sustainability Ambassador Gary Ferreira, came together to make an impact in the lives of those less fortunate. Their mission? To repurpose factory fabric samples generously donated by a department store and instead give them to adults and children in need – the impact was twofold – it clothed adults and children in need and reduced waste sent to a landfill.
The JAS employees started by detaching company labels from each item. They then sorted and packaged the fabrics to ensure the garments could be easily distributed to charitable organizations in Hong Kong and the Philippines. The act of kindness was met with smiling and thankful faces.
This collaboration not only helped address material needs but also contributed to reducing fashion waste. This initiative underscores how corporate entities can address social and environmental challenges by leveraging existing resources and expertise.
We are grateful for our retail partner, Inland Corporation, and the Bruni Foundation for their support in ensuring each item reached its intended recipients with care and efficiency. Such achievements are only possible through collective cross-industry efforts.
This initiative is part of the Bruni Foundation's 'Pay it Forward' program, which empowers JAS employees to become ambassadors of change by actively supporting social and environmental causes. Throughout the year, the Bruni Foundation, an integral part of JAS, will support various global projects, primarily focusing on these United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Quality Education, No Poverty, Clean Water and Sanitation, and Zero Hunger. Yet, understanding the current challenges towards the environment and the well-being of societies, the Bruni Foundation also actively supports initiatives that promote responsible environmental stewardship.
Current Situation
This week, the Red Sea crisis and geopolitical situation in the region worsened. Week 12 saw the first sunken vessel, MV 'Rubymar', leaking fuel and fertilizer, along with the tragic deaths of 3 seafarers that served on the MV 'True Confidence' when the attack occurred in the Gulf of Aden. Industry associations are urging vessel diversions until safe passage is guaranteed.

Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies is a voluntary Vessel Speed Reduction (VSR) Program along the coast of California which incentivizes companies to incorporate sustainable shipping practices across their global supply chain. By creating seasonal and predictable slow speed zones, this program helps companies protect endangered whales, reduce fuel use and regional greenhouse gas emissions, and improve air quality and human health outcomes.
The program runs each year from mid-May to December to coincide with peak ozone and whale feeding and migration. The program covers two geographic regions, one along the Southern California coast and one outside the San Francisco Bay Area.
As an ambassador, JAS engages with its shipping partners operating in the area, recognizes the shared vision and commitment with those already involved in vessel speed reduction, and further encourages other ocean carriers to participate in the program.
“What makes the BWBS initiative stand out is that it not only addresses carbon emissions, but also safeguards biodiversity. By voluntarily reducing vessel speed (VSR) along the California coast, ocean carriers commit to protecting blue whales and raising industry awareness. JAS supports this initiative and will further engage its logistics partners on the key role whales play in the environment and our responsibility to improve the ocean ecosystem.” -Andrea Goeman, SVP QHSE & Sustainability, JAS Worldwide
“Being an ambassador for the BWBS Program is a great initiative towards more sustainable ocean freight solutions. It is a way to further engage with our carriers, with whom we share values towards a sustainable transformation, and an example of how collaboration can be beneficial for the logistics ecosystem, our customers, and the environment.” -Lars Huebecker, EVP Global Head of Ocean Freight
Seaports are critical components of the global transport system. JAS is present with our own port terminals at every port in Norway as well as via our partners in countries around the globe. This provides a global network of opportunities for our customers with the ability to meet all types of international inquiries. With convenient port locations, it is only a short distance from ships to land-based logistics functions.
We have a close relationship with large industrial suppliers and ship owners and operate as agents for the largest feeder companies. We offer loading and discharging of bulk loads, tankers, and container vessels, and quayside storage provides direct access to container ships and marine vessels. This is available from both our own and our clients’ quays. In addition, our experienced team members can provide all services related to the stuffing, stripping, securing, and packaging of goods in containers.
All Norway ports have container depots and dedicated staff with broad experience in terminal operations. Our teams of qualified service engineers oversee the maintenance and repair of all containers, ensuring they are ready to be loaded and shipped. We provide daily stock- and movement-reports, and always have the right equipment available at the right time.
We offer a cross-docking solution that keeps your goods moving. The storage time is significantly reduced, or eliminated, as the goods are distributed directly to the customer. The goods are received through an inbound dock, separated, mixed as required, and directly transferred to the outbound dock. This is a convenient solution for temperature-controlled goods that must be transported quickly or already packaged and sorted goods.
One of the most important things in port logistics is personal service. We put the customers first, solving their problems by providing customized solutions and around-the-clock customer service with flexible and reliable processes. No matter the size of your shipment or the needs you may have, we are your complete port logistics provider.

On September 08th, 2020 JAS Italia turned 42 years old, a year that will be remembered in history for the COVID-19 pandemic, the numerous human losses in the world, and the serious economic consequences caused to all world economies.
This year JAS Italia has proved once again that it can react as a great team in the face of adversity, establishing itself as the leading transport dispatcher of DPI (individual protection devices), respirators, medical-hospital equipment for Civil Protection, hospitals, Italian regions, and private companies.
JAS Italia has been active from March until the beginning of August with weekly charter flights from China in order to meet the strong demand for the supply of masks and other security devices. Two HUBS have been created, JAS Rome and JAS Milan providing also 7/7 days H24 road delivery services. It was not only a matter of "business" but also of "civic sense and responsibility" at the service of our great country.
The bad experience of the COVID-19 has paradoxically also shown positive aspects, such as the ability to react and to work as a team, the innate qualities of the Italian people to use, for the first time in 42 years, the remote work guaranteeing the quality of service required by our customers, to find alternative solutions to the market standard ones, to reflect more on the next steps that we will have to take for a greater digitization and technological investments. Of course, all this concerns us, but our government will have to modernize our country with investments on broadband, infrastructural computer network and other.
Never before has our slogan, "People Make The Difference" matched the current spirit that will project us toward new challenges.
FORZA JAS ITALIA ❤

Mai come ora, il nostro slogan “People make the difference” corrisponde allo spirito attuale che ci proietterà verso nuove sfide.
FORZA JAS ITALIA ❤
