On August 24, 2017 the Cargo Human Care project, a humanitarian and medical aid charity run initiated by the employees of Lufthansa Cargo took place in Frankfurt-Niederrad for the third time. Several individuals from the JAS Germany Frankfurt branch participated including Juergen Erdt (MD), Murat Alkilic (Head of Finance & Controlling), Julien Pelesic (Director Airfreight Germany) and Manuel Kiessling (Branch Manager of FRA) as well as others.
The Lufthansa Sports Club, Cargo Bulls division, in cooperation with the location-initiative ‘Neues Niederrad’ invited several companies in the transportation and office business segments to the 3rd office city run in Frankfurt-Niederrad. The event was titled, Step by step ... giving children a future - The Cargo Human Care Office City Run.
The event was intended as an evening run for all running enthusiasts in the Rhine-Main area, and especially for the employees in the office city of Niederrad and the nearby Frankfurt airport.
The route included two beautiful, largely flat stretches (5km and 10km) along the office part of the city and through the city's forest with its beautiful trees. The mood in the evening was great and at the finish line all participants had a wonderful view of the Frankfurt skyline!
The proceeds of the event were given to the volunteer aid organization Cargo Human Care e.V., consisting of doctors and employees of the Lufthansa Group. The organization will finance the construction of the "Happy Child Education Center" for preschool children from a slum area in Kawangware on the northern outskirts of Nairobi. At present, about 45 children from the poorest conditions are taught in corrugated iron barracks; the new building should provide space for a total of 100 children.
After a couple of fantastic years, JAS Netherlands met with several challenges the second half of 2016 and has come through with flying colors. A couple of events happened more or less simultaneously on the staffing side. Losing both branch managers at almost the same time, was in the end the climax of these events.
Fortunately we have been able to find great replacements and I’m happy to introduce our new core team:
The team is excited about the improvements made and is completely ready to support all of you moving forward. So bring it on!
As informed in March by our CEO, Mr Marco Rebuffi, JAS Worldwide and GreenCarrier Freight Services (greencarrier.com) have formed a strategic alliance with the intent to expand trade and business between the Nordic and Baltic Sea region and the rest of the world.
Since then, a sales and operations meeting took place with JAS EMEA Management. Martin Spitzli – JAS EMEA VP of Air, and François-Xavier Mollet – JAS EMEA VP of Sales, both participated to Greencarrier’s Country Management meeting in Gothenburg to integrate our two companies. Martin Spitzli also participated in Riga (Latvia) to their Air Freight Management meeting.
On his side, Brahim Jarmache – JAS WW VP Agents, is working diligently to organize all the necessary set-up with each Greencarrier country offices in order to guarantee a smooth operations and netting integration.
Now, the focus is on our mutual development to make sure we have a full grip on the potential of our development. For this, one important milestone was the selection, by François-Xavier and Martin Svantesson – CCO of Greencarrier Freight Services, of Global & Multinational Accounts that JAS and Greencarrier will target and develop together. These companies are mainly local multinationals like Alfa Laval, Huqsvarna, SKF, Eletrolux, Ericsson, Tetra Pak, among others.
The strength of Greencarrier together with our JAS Network now allows us to propose a unique service opportunity for these target accounts and we cheer for our mutual development with them in the near future.
If you have any rate and/or service requirements to develop business with Greencarrier, please send your request to the following persons:

We are excited to announce that our Antwerp team has moved to a new location in the harbor area of Antwerp.
We spent the previous six years in a building about a mile away from our new location -- our old office served us well but we couldn't be more excited about our new space.
Our new office has been stripped and refurbished to a high standard to offer light and space, which adds to the well-being of our human capital.
The new office, on the fourth floor of one of Antwerp oldest harbor office buildings , is overlooking the dock activities of the port. Staring outside, we watch the docking and loading of the vessels and containers, it makes it a lively place to work in, in the middle of the action….
It has been an exciting six years for JAS Belgium, and we look at this new location as the start of another chapter in our history. We'll be hosting a happy hour soon for our vendors and customers, and if you're in the area, feel free to stop in and say hi!
Also Brussels airfreight office will be moving shortly, in the next issue, we’ll tell you everything about that move.

Six months after the earthquake that destroyed the historic city of Amatrice, in the province of Rieti, JAS ITALY committed since the early hours as an emergency connection with the National Civil Protection for the logistical and transport assistance, also set off a commitment for civic solidarity for the people hit by the earthquake.
As an active part in the campaign "Together for Torrita di Amatrice", JAS ITALY donated a prefab structure to the Commander of the local police of Amatrice, Mr.Gianfranco Salvatore, whom suffered the loss of his life partner and the total destruction of his house.
The transfer of the prefab from the manufacturer's factory, in the province of Bergamo, up to Amatrice, took place on 24 February by Pepa Transport Society (a JAS partner for truck transport ).
Once the unload and installation of the building was completed, a representative of JAS ITALY, along with representatives of other associations participating in the campaign of solidarity, proudly handed the keys of prefab to the Commander Salerno, who greatly appreciated with immeasurable gratefulness and appreciations.
JAS continued its commitment to expanding its customer base in sales meetings held the first week of February in Cassano D’ Adda, Italy. As the top management and sales team members from JAS Italy gathered at Fort Viscontea for the 2017 sales meeting, they were joined by JAS Worldwide President and CEO, Mr. Marco Rebuffi, and JAS Executive Vice President (EVP) of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Stefano Redditi, via live stream from the Global Administration Campus in Atlanta, USA. This important meeting was also joined and had representation on a global scale from all three JAS Regions ; Asia Pacific (APAC), EMEA (Europe, The Middle East, & Africa), and The Americas.
Representing JAS APAC was Mr. Tomas Sonntag EVP of APAC, Mr. Roderick Hoffman of Thailand, Mr. Christian Wolf Managing Director Japan, Mr Marc Michelmann of Singapore, Daniele Iussa of Thailand, Mr. Giuseppe Favrin of Japan, Andrea Azzimonti Sales in China, and Marta Masetto of Hong Kong.
Representing JAS EMEA was Mr. Stephane Jarmache President U.A.E., and Andrea Avitabile Sales U.A.E..

The two days of meetings were focused on how to grow sales in JAS Italy, one of the most important areas of business for JAS. The meetings aid the entire team in growing, getting new ideas, and strategiszing together. Collaboration is one of the most important ways that a team can grow, and these meetings aimed at facilitating that collaboration.
Mr. Stefano Redditi is quoted saying “JAS Italy did a fantastic job in organizing this meeting, the message was clear and I am sure the local sales team is ready to tackle 2017! I particularly liked the town hall style session when the colleagues from overseas were asked specific questions from the Italian colleagues audience” .

With an entire division, dedicated to Projects – Oil & Gas, we have proven experience with logistics services such as shore-base inventory management, local purchase and complete warehouse management. Our Israeli footprint works in conjunction with our Israel desk in New Jersey. Our NJ desk is dedicated to the U.S.- Israel trade lane with weekly consolidated shipments as well as the ability to prepare the necessary export documents which are an Israeli Authority requirement.
Completed projects since 2009 up to 2016 include industry specific such as Oil & Gas, Mining, Power and Infrastructure Projects that involved charter vessels and aircrafts, warehouse management and inland out of gauge transportation. Often times our industry specific clients require our knowledge of Ministry of Energy Licensing, Petroleum laws, require use of cranes and forklifts in addition to supply management. If implant employees are required for base management to real estate use of an office, yard and warehouse, we can oblige with our 24/7 English speaking staff.
Specialized services include working Saturdays and Holidays where a fleet of vans, trucks and various forklift types are available for use. With offices at both Ashdod and Haifa Ports, we can easily execute because of our proximity for same day delivery, after customs release.
Understanding the needs of our Projects – Oil & Gas and related clients is key. Reach out to either Michael Onorato or Carmen Perez with your Israel inquiry. We can help.
The JAS Projects - Oil & Gas (JAS PO&G) scope of work on this large project was to arrange pre-carriage from the FCA(Free Carrier) Supplier in Italy, arrange full charters to Port Antwerp, and then receive cargo under hook up to the final job site.
This project consisted of several large modules, a few of the largest ones were L31 m x W6.3m x H 6.7m and GWT 170 Metric Tons. To ensure smooth planning and execution of the project, JAS PO&G flew our Project Manager and Transportation Engineer in for pre-operations meeting and inspection of the freight. JAS PO&G Houston performed a detailed route study to determine the most feasible route, identifying civil work, route improvement, height barriers and permit requirements. JAS PO&G Houston pre-planned and did close coordination with Department of Transportation and utility/electrical companies to remove all the barriers and obstructions in order to expedite permits within a reasonable time frame to meet the project delivery deadline.
All oversized cargo was self-unloaded on stands at Port Chioggia, for safe handling of the cargo and to avoid the high costs of hiring a crane. The JAS client's requirement was to stow all cargo under deck, considering the dimensions and height of the cargo JAS PO&G Houston narrowed down their choice to 3 carriers who would have suitable ships to accommodate all of this freight under deck. JAS PO&G Houston obtained specifcations of the ship and prepared detailed stowage plans along with the lifting, securing and lashing drawings on the nominated vessel. Our team including the Transportation Engineer, Project Manager, and Surveyor were in attendance to supervise the loading, securing and lashing operation to ensure it met all safety standards both at the origin and discharge point in Antwerp.

JAS Forwarding is pleased to present the new management team for our important Trade Lane Germany – USA. Benjamin Gundlach, based in Munich, just joined JAS Germany as the new Trade Lane Director for the US beginning of May, 2016. Before he joined JAS Germany, Benjamin worked as Trade Lane Manager in Munich for the last one-and-a-half years, right after returning from Atlanta, GA, where he worked as a Trade Lane / Sales Manager also with focus on Germany.
His counterpart, Bjoern Wiede, Trade Lane Director for Germany and based in Atlanta, GA is a german-educated freight forwarder living since 13 years in the USA. Bjoern joined JAS beginning of February and most recently worked as Trade Lane Manager for the USA and Europe with a major forwarder.
With Germany being one of the top 5 trading partners for the USA and the USA being the No 1 trading partner for Germany, “Made in Germany” as a seal of quality is highly recognized amongst US companies driving exports and imports between both countries. Most German companies have since long established a foothold in the US market and are supplying American companies and consumers with their products and vice versa. The main industries that drive the trade between these economic powers have for several years remained but are not limited to manufacturing, healthcare and chemical, and of course, the Automotive industries.
Benjamin’s and Bjoern’s focus will be to intensify JAS customer relations with German and American prospects, develop new business initiatives and also expand the current business relationship with our local and global JAS customer base geared towards their trade lane.
The current customer service oriented setup in both countries, with Air and Ocean services as well as Brokerage solutions is making JAS a strong and reliable partner for any customer needing freight forwarding services. Besides JAS own weekly consolidated ocean container, which is routed through our gateway in Hamburg to Charleston, SC we have regular air freight consolidations in place with two or more uplifts per week from the gateway in FRA to IAH, ATL, SFO, ORD and JFK.
Next to intensifying new and current customer relations, the team’s goal is also to increase the existing range of services. The plan is to also implement consolidation services in the USA with regular air freight schedules to Frankfurt and additional consolidated ocean containers to the USA and vice versa.
JAS Germany and JAS USA have committed themselves to push the growth and the customer satisfaction on the USA – Germany trade lane and we are excited to welcome Benjamin and Bjoern to the team to spearhead this initiative.
The biannual JAS Germany management meeting was held May 12 & 13, 2016 in Neu-Isenburg/Germany. 26 participants from all German branches met to evaluate current national and global programs to share best practices and to set priorities for the coming months.
One key topic was the successful roll out of our CargoWise One (C1) System in Germany, effective April 1, 2016. Our globally used software enables JAS Germany now to provide JAS Worldwide Service Standards to all of our customers. Juergen Erdt (JAS MD Germany) said: “To make this roll out a success, we had the full engagement of the JAS Germany employees, together with our overseas colleagues, supporting this important milestone!”
The stand out of the meeting was to welcome the Management teams of China and USA in Germany. The Chinese team was led by Mr. Gabriele Benedetti (CEO JAS China) and the Mrs. Lavinia Chan (Sales Director Southern China) and Mr. Andrea Azzimonti (Sales Director Northern & Central China), supported by Mr. Bernd Meyer (VP Sales Asia). The USA team was composed of Mr. Adrian Emmenegger (President & CEO of JAS USA) together Mr. Tony Romano (VP Sales & Marketing USA) and Mr. Bjoern Wiede (Trade Lane Director).
This joined meeting was the ideal platform to present and strengthen two of the most important trade regions for JAS Germany. The encounter enabled German management to meet personally with Key Managers and allowed for very constructive conversations on our strategies, our best practices and our next actions to develop our services. With full commitment from all parties, this event will positively impact the development of the JAS Worldwide trade-lane strategy, and continue our reach for total customer satisfaction goals.
JAS in Johannesburg was recently awarded the transportation and logistics contract for the Gateway to Space exhibition at the Johannesburg Convention Centre in South Africa.
Quick facts about the exhibition
Scope of work handled by JAS South Africa
Timing was critical as the exhibition started on the 1st June 2016, and time was not on our side.
20 x 40’cntrs were shipped ex Amsterdam to Johannesburg under a Carnet ATA. These containers had to be delivered in specific sequential order at specific times to facilitate the off-loading and unpacking on site.
Due to the fragility of the material, the Contractor Media 24 had to fly in a professional team to co-ordinate and facilitate the unpacking and assembling of the artifacts.
The exhibition will run for 2 months and then has to be re-exported to a country still to be determined in Europe. JAS will be appointed for the export.
The delivery fortunately went without any incidents and in true JAS fashion, we applied a personal touch to ensure service excellence.
Congratulations to the job well done by the JAS South Africa team, our Gateway to Space!
Did you know Belgium was declared independent on October 4th, 1830, after a revolution that started August 25th that same year? JAS Belgium, as a fully owned subsidiary, was founded much later.
After an introduction meeting with Stefan Sigg, the executive vice president of the JAS EMEA Region, organized by René Kruse from JAS Netherlands, followed some time later by a meeting with JAS President and CEO Marco Rebuffi and Stefan Sigg, the foundations for the birth of JAS Forwarding Worldwide Belgium NV, were made.
With the official opening on April 1st 2011, JAS BE started its activities with a total staff of 9 employees. Their primary task was to safeguard the customer base in to and out of Belgium, previously handled by a former agent, representing JAS in the area. Today, just after their 5th anniversary, they have a team of 24 professionals in place, out of which 6 run the Brussels airport office and the remainder are based in Antwerp. JAS Belguim also houses 4 JAS Projects - Oil and Gas colleagues in their Antwerp office.
JAS Belguim is proud to say that out of the 9 pioneers who started up at JAS Belgium, only 1 employee is no longer with the team. The rest of the team is still fully on board today. Client retention is important, and therefore staff retention is even more important!
Business wise JAS BE started off with 100% of its business controlled by overseas offices. Today this number is around 67% control of our business in Belgium. This turn around was possible by offering customers more than just a rate. JAS Belgium offers full visibility, reporting and traceable communication, and 24/7 support at all operations and management levels. This approach has allowed JAS Belgium to convince major shippers & importers to trust JAS with their business. In fact, many clients awarded JAS Belgium more lanes than initially planned, thanks to our proactive and professional approach.
In 2015, JAS BE was also awarded the AEO-certification.
JAS BE was an unknown freight forwarder prior 2011 in Belgium. In fact, even today JAS is not yet commonly known in the BE market which by default is a great opportunity. We are the challenger and we can make the difference!
Now, as a new important milestone, JAS Belgium has acquired its own JAS-branded truck which will cover the Belgium territory to handle pick-ups and deliveries. This brings JAS Belgium to another level to guarantee the best and timely services for our customers.
For any questions, requests or quotes please do not hesitate to contact the JAS Belgium team !
With the slow streaming trend initiated by ocean carriers coupled with unexpected congestion in some of the major ports, the JAS Sea/Air product has been a major cost-saving alternative for many customers across the globe.
When ocean freight becomes too late to supply its customers or factories, Sea/Air service is an alternative instead of paying high cost direct air freight transportation. Dubai is home to one of the world’s largest airport and its unique location makes it the earth’s natural hub.
All major carriers operate directly in an out of the United Arab Emirates, making it an ideal location with a unique cost savings advantage. Combining geographical advantage by linking Asia to the rest of the world along with outstanding local infrastructure, both DXB and DWC cargo terminals are designed to meet the needs of customers with EFFICIENT AND COST SAVINGS SOLUTIONS.
Whether your cargo is destined for Europe, the Americas or Africa, JAS – through its Jebel Ali & DXB hubs can provide the best quality & price for Sea/Air services. Although limited to specific products, the service is used with great success for e-goods, mid fashion retail and from origins where uplift is scarce.

Omida Sea & Air / Omida Group
JAS is proud of the partnerships made with agents around the world. Continuously expanding our network and gaining new insights into new markets with every new partnership is one of the many things that make JAS the company it is.
In Poland JAS is proud to be partners with Omida Sea & Air / Omida Group, headquartered in Gdansk, Poland.
When asked about their relationship with JAS, Omida responded with the below:
"Thank you very much for the opportunity to be a part of the JAS Worldwide Team by Omida Sea & Air / Omida Group.
We welcomed the possibility of cooperating with a global corporation like JAS.
Your successful strategies and shared values make it head and shoulders above the randomly chosen competition. In the past, we needed to use unknown agents to assist us with moving cargo, with their service level unfamiliar to us. Having such a reliable partner like JAS, not only can we have access to the global JAS network and JAS countries and markets worldwide, but also it gives us a professional stability both in service and credit terms.
The netting system is a useful tool to assist in the handling the cash flow among the group and that same tool lead us to partner with JAS. Since JAS has the financial stability and a sprawling network of global offices to assist us with our customers.
Furthermore, by partnering with JAS we can enter aggressively into new accounts and sell the JAS brand with its extensive knowledge of different commodities and act as a global company – especially now that we compete in a market overwhelmed by global corporations, the need for a strong partnership is of the utmost importance.
JAS also benefits from Omida, with it being the number one group in Poland in terms of dynamic growth in 2015! (transport/forwarding/logistics profile). Our consecutive development over the past years has allowed us to create one of the most recognized Polish forwarding brands in Poland with over 300 employees in 10 branches across the country as well as with around 50 of our own trucks and customs broker agency with AEO, FIATA, IATA accreditations.
In the last 9 months, we nominated JAS to handle over 500 of our containers (around 640 TEU) and we are positive that the volume will keep on increasing year by year.
Each of these elements has contributed to JAS being an appealing partner for the long term in our business ventures!
We want to be part of your success!"
JAS is happy to be a partner to Omida and looks forward to working with them in the long term!
