Ducati is a famous Italian motorcycle manufacturer and has 90 years of history. Passion represents the Ducati spirit. The biggest global Ducati event, World Ducati Week, also known as WDW, is the only international event to attract Ducatists from all over the world. The annual event is held at the historic racetrack of Misano Adriatico (RN), and creates three days of pure "RED" passion, including conferences, moto-shows, parties and races.
Ducatists in Taiwan also experience the same “RED” passion and team spirit during the Taiwan Ducati Week. KEVIN IND & AGRI CO., LTD, the sole agent of Ducati, held the 2017 Taiwan Ducati Week on October 21st- 22nd, a high-profile and unmissable event for Ducatists and saw more than 300 bikes from all over Taiwan join the event. This annual family-friendly event started in 2004 and has continued being more interesting and better every year. Rousing more interest this year was Ducati Headquarters shipping one Desmosedici GP14 to Taiwan, the Ducati Racing Team’s MotoGP racing bike of 2014, offering Ducatists a chance for close contact with this moving art piece during the event.
The 2017 Taiwan Ducati Week program included a Ducati themed banquet, amazing show and multiple lucky prize winners from drawings for Ducatists. JAS Worldwide (Taiwan) Ltd. as the exclusive forwarder of Ducati Taiwan and one of the 12 sponsors of this event offered 2 gifts up for lucky drawers. It made Ducatists high in “Red Party”.
Parker Hannifin Indonesia (a subsidiary of Parker Hannifin Corporation USA), began its presence in Indonesia in 2008 as a Rep. Office to Parker Hannifin Singapore. In 2013, Parker Indonesia became an incorporated company and began operations as PT Parker Hannifin Indonesia. Today they have grown to a staff of 40 serving customers throughout Indonesia.
PT JAS Worldwide Indonesia has been working with PT Parker Hannifin since 2016 and is supporting Parker with all of their import needs. JAS has helped Parker with several challenging situations relating to changes in import regulations and helped Parker sustain its flow of product to its customers. On July 19, 2017, JAS was honored to be the only International Freight Forwarder invited to attend the Grand opening of Parker’s new office and warehouse in Tangerang BSD near Jakarta.
Prada Japan nominated JAS Japan to handle the shipping of materials required for the renovation of the external facade of their shop in Ala Moana Center Shopping Mall in Hawaii, USA.
The commodities of the shipment were large marble slabs, windows and fittings whose sizes are considered out of gauge. Unfortunately, there are no carriers in Japan that could offer Open Top containers or RO/RO service from Japan to Honolulu, and this shipment was urgently needed in Hawaii. Despite these challenges, JAS Japan managed to come out with an ideal solution where the shipment not only will arrived in a timely manner, but also came with an affordable price tag.
First, JAS Japan engaged experts to look at each of the items and found that it was possible to fit all the items into normal covered containers with some careful planning. In addition, to ensure all the items were well protected throughout the journey, JAS Japan custom-made some of the crates where the tallest fittings fit perfectly into the containers. During the filling of the containers, Senior Logistics Manager of Prada Japan visited our DC and witnessed the entire operation. He was very impressed with JAS professionalism and the care that the staff gave in handling these items.
Eventually all items were packaged into two 40’High Cube containers which were shipped out in time to Honolulu for the re-opening of the shop.

Moving such equipment requires special handling and coordination. JAS prioritizes these shipments successfully delivering them to the port, lashing as needed and loading them to the vessel. JAS partners at destinations then takes over and helps to conclude the door to door moves. JAS has moved 6 such vehicles in 2016 and projects the number to more than double in the first half of 2017.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Peter Troy joined us as Vice President of Ocean Freight, Asia Pacific on January 3, 2017.
Peter has a very long and established career in the logistics industry. A seasoned executive who brings with him experience in P&L, sales, operations and products. Before joining JAS, Peter was the Global Head of Ocean Freight in Toll Global Forwarding based in Hong Kong, he handled all aspects of product management covering ocean across the group.
Peter started his career with Ariel Maritime (UK) Ltd, he was quickly moving up the ranks helping grow the Company from a four people operation to over 100 staff. After nine years, he left as a Director and joined Hermann Ludwig which are known today as Geodis Wilson Group. Peter was engaged to expand and open up the first office outside of the UK and was eventually promoted to Board Member of the UK company and then was appointed as the Managing Director / CEO Hong Kong / China Group from 1997 to 2002. Peter has been based in Hong Kong since 1997.
In 2002, Peter joined Schenker as Head of Ocean Product – China a position he held for six years, he was also a member of the Global Ocean Freight Steering Committee within the Product Management. An opportunity arose in 2009, whereby Peter was appointed by PIFF Shipping Ltd as the CEO of Asia Pacific Region. After a year, Peter pursued his career interest with Toll Global Forwarding.
With his high level of drive and enthusiasm, we look forward to Peter leading the Ocean Freight team to new heights of success.
We are pleased to introduce Mr. Bruce Ning as the new General Manager of Northern and Central China region, who came on board on November 8th, 2016
With over 17 years’ of experience in the logistics field, Bruce has a strong knowledge of the industry along with a remarkable track record working across various functions in Top Logistics companies like Panalpina, Damco, etc. Prior to joining JAS, Bruce was the Chief Commercial Officer for Central China in Damco where he was responsible for commercial development across all segments and verticals in the Central China Area. In 2012, Bruce was awarded by the Shanghai Multiple Trade Zone Board of Management as Excellent Enterprising Businessman for the successful establishment of a Regional Distribution Center project in the Yangshan Free Trade Port Area in Shanghai.
On a personal note, Bruce was born in Hong Kong and spent 10 years studying in the UK, graduating from the University of Bath with a BSc in National Sciences. Subsequently, he continue with self-education in spare time and passed CFA Level 3 exams in 2003. Currently he is also the speaker for EMBA and MBA classes from a number of renowned universities like University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, University of Iowa and etc.
We believe with his excellent people management skills and strong customer focus, it will bring forth a new culture to JAS Northern and Central China which will drive our business development to the next level.
Do you like potato chips? Potato chips are one of the favorite snacks in South Korea, which require approximately 130,000 Tons of potatoes a year for production.
One important requirement to make good potato chips is to have the potatoes as fresh as possible or else it will not be delicious. During Summer time from June to October, South Korea alone can produce approximately 100,000 Tons of potatoes locally, but it is difficult to produce sufficient a quantity of potatoes during Winter.
In order to meet market demands and fulfill customer satisfaction in Winter, they must first import and store potatoes from West USA in November and later on import fresh potatoes from Australia, who has Summer from December onwards. Due to several reasons, Australia's export for potatoes are increasingly rapidly. From January to May of 2016, USA exports were down 65% compared to the same time last year, while Australia exports went up 69%.
Potatoes from Australia to Korea requires a very special handling process & know-how. Transportation from an Australia Farm to Korean manufacturers’ plants have to be done by Reefer Containers as the potatoes require certain temperature control & ventilation throughout the journey. It is estimated about 1,000 – 1,200 of 40-feet Reefer containers were moved in 2016 and same is projected for 2017.
In 2016, JAS Australia and Korea successfully stepped into this business by handling 163 of the 40-feet Reefer containers for one of South Korea's major potato chip manufacturing companies. Subsequently, JAS has also secured approximately 400 of the 40-feet Reefer containers in 2017 with all 3 manufacturers. The 2017 business contract was signed at the JAS Sydney office in December 2016 with Australian Supplier, Shingreen Fresh and JAS Australia and Korea.
With Potato Logistics, JAS is not only offering a pure transport service, but also a wide range of associated logistics services, extending from professional ocean shipment to destination storage and other activities specific to the agricultural sector.

JAS Singapore had the privilege to participate in the new upcoming Airport Terminal 4 Project with one of our regular customers.
Before the operation, JAS Singapore sat down with the customer to gain a better understanding of the operation along with their concerns and requirements. The customer informed JAS Singapore that they required the delivery and positioning of 30 X-Ray Machines along with its complementary accessories to the Airport Terminal 4 construction site of a secured area. After gathering all the information, JAS Singapore knew that instead of the usual solutions, they needed to provide a Total Supply Chain Solution for this operation.
In order to ensure that the delivery and positioning of the machines were handled correctly, JAS Singapore gathered internal and external experts to discuss how to manage the whole operation better. After finalizing the details, all personnel involved in the operation were required to undergo a test that was set up by the authorities so that they could secure the pass to enter into the secured area.
After several construction site visits, planning and close co-ordination with all partners, JAS Singapore were able to execute this operation smoothly and to our customer's satisfaction.
JAS China has strived to develop warehousing services that offer a flexible, one-stop solution for all types of clients. The latest achievement can be found in Shanghai where JAS has been chosen to handle the warehousing service for Completely Knock Down (CKD) parts and finished goods, one of the world’s top tier automotive suppliers.
The warehouse is strategically located at Chuansha Town, Pudong New District in Shanghai, which is close to both the Pudong Airport (17 km) and Waigaoqiao Port (24km). It provides non-bonded logistics services with a storage capacity of 4,850 sqm. The automotive client has occupied 2,600 sqm with 3,400 pallet positions set up for the client.
This is equivalent to more than 50% of the warehouse space.
The scope of service provided to the automotive client includes the following:
During the implementation of the warehousing service for this client, JAS had to simultaneously receive the CKD parts and replenishment from the client's previously owned in-plant warehouse and relocate the parts and finished goods to the JAS Warehouse. Even though this implementation is more complex than usual with the organized effort of the JAS China warehouse team, the relocation was smoothly accomplished in 2 months and now the service is extended to full operation of Pick & Pack services and JIT delivery to the production line.
Recently, the client has completed a 2016 annual stock take and external audit at the JAS warehouse, the result were positive and proved the success of the JAS China warehousing service. Warehousing is always one of the most important elements in the one-stop service solution, and we look forward to expand our warehousing service to more clients in China.

One of the renowned Italian luxury fashion brands regards JAS as a trust-able Global Supply Chain partner and decided to entrust JAS China to handle their SS2017 collection from Hong Kong and Shanghai to Modena, Italy via Air Garments-on-hangers (GOH) consolidation service.
Even though JAS has been working closely with the client in various parts of the world, it is not an easy feat to secure this type of business. With a strong display of our knowledge of the client's requirements and demands along with the successful showcase of prior Air GOH consolidations, JAS managed to outperform the other competitors. In addition, with JAS Milan's eco-friendly initiative of recycling the GOH equipment (paper-made C05) for other shipments, this enabled our clients to enjoy a more competitive rate while not compromising the quality of the service standard.
From Q4 2016 onward, JAS Hong Kong and Shanghai have weekly Air GOH consolidation service to Modena, with an average of 2,000 pieces to 4,000 pieces per consolidation per week.
By displaying our capability in GOH consolidation service from Hong Kong and Shanghai, we aim to expand our footprint to be the global nominated partner for our loyal fashion client. We also believe the success brought by this business will further strengthen the JAS position in the luxury fashion market.
India is one of the well-known emerging markets in the global economic scenario. Since the economic liberalization policies commenced in the 1990s, India has really prospered which has helped to boost the Indian economy to a great extent.
The main factors behind this booming market are the economic liberalization and the perfect competition market. There has been a significant growth of the Indian market which has resulted in a high Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The average annual growth rate ranges between 6 to 7 %. The growth rate of GDP was around 6.7 % during the financial year 2008-09.

UTC Aerospace India Bangalore (formerly Goodrich Aerospace) is a fully owned 100% subsidiary of United Technology Corp (UTC).,U.S conglomerate. Specialize in manufacturing aircraft sub-assemblies like fuselage, landing gears, evacuation systems, aircraft interiors and other avionics. They are 100% EOU (export oriented unit) which every items manufactured are exported directly to OEM’s like Boeing, Airbus and other tier 1 & 2 aerospace companies. The raw material & components are 90% imported from inter-company UTC subsidiaries mainly in the US, Germany, Spain, Czech and UK and other approved UTC supplier based in Asia like Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Japan & Korea.
JAS India locally signed a local agreement to handle their imports from 3 major locations into Bangalore airport. The business awarded based on rigorous vendor scrutiny process to evaluate our local operation capability and ensure that they have appointed the suitable vendor is handling their business, One portion of the process is conducting a site visit at JAS Bangalore office. During the visit, they have met up with the team who will be managing their business along with an introduction of JAS infrastructure and capability such as the office infrastructure, Operating Systems, core carrier relationships and etc.

For the past several years, the Trans-Pacific shipping market has been one of the most unpredictable in the world. Over the years, we have seen strikes, natural disasters, mergers, new regulations, and spikes and lulls in economies, causing a very fluid market situation that changes almost weekly. The recent Hanjin bankruptcy is the latest in a series of unfortunate events that has caused the market to stand on its head.
During this period of time, we have seen a shift in the landscape of relationships among freight forwarders and carriers through several mergers, buyouts, and alliance shifts in order to grow market share in one of the most competitive markets in the world.
Instead of trying to buy market share, JAS has taken a customer-centric approach to develop this market and it has paid off. With the implementation of the Cargowise One (C1) platform, (beginning with the USA and China in 2014) JAS has been able to use live data to react quickly to the ever changing market conditions and increase efficiency in the process. This is mutually beneficial to both JAS and our customers.
We are taking this a step further by investing in other business intelligence and analytic tools to help customers make better decisions to improve their respective supply chains. The Trans-Pacific market is highly competitive and transparent in terms of shipping rates. Customers are looking to find other ways to reduce cost and compete through creating consolidations, maintaining visibility, forecasting, and steering.
So far in 2016, JAS has added 4 weekly LCL consolidations to our current Trans-Pacific offering for a total of 17 lane pairs with the intention of adding two more before year end. These LCL consolidations cover not only the major markets (Los Angeles, Shanghai, Hong Kong, etc.) but also regions such as Keelung, Qingdao, Memphis, and Charleston.
Additionally, we have developed our air and FCL product offerings over the years by maintaining a focused approach through our elite carrier programs. By partnering with and maintaining long term support from market leading airlines and steamships that provide best in class service, we can be confident in our ability to provide our customers with a consistent level of service, even during drastic market fluctuations.
A perfect example of this is the current Hanjin financial crisis leading to bankruptcy. The JAS Ocean Services team saw this situation several months ago and began proactively steering cargo elsewhere. We still have some affected freight, given the interconnected system and global alliances between carriers, but the little disruption that did occur was manageable and easily resolved. In fact, the situation at hand puts JAS in a very unique position in the market. While others scramble and focus internally to minimize the damage caused by Hanjin, JAS is focusing on our customers and has the resources and tools available to help them maximize their supply chain and navigate through the uncertainty of the Trans-Pacific market with confidence.
If you ask most business leaders in the world what their most important resource is, many will tell you it’s their people. Driving value in today’s Trans-Pacific supply chain market for logistic service providers can be challenging. No longer do logistics and supply chain managers make decisions in a vacuum. Most organizations make collective decisions when it comes to their supply chain since it involves finance, purchasing, customer service, production, etc. This process can take a lot of time given that these decisions affect every aspect of the company.
Market information is readily available in the form of social media, blogs, newsletters, and industry websites. However, there is typically some level of bias associated with such mediums based upon the sources of the data. This is a reality in any industry. Given the market volatility, supply chain decision makers are tasked to take in all available information then work with other affected company departments to predict the future. By identifying this complex customer need, JAS was driven to provide a solution. We began by compiling data from our global operating system then designing a Business Intelligence Platform to highlight customer trends and proactively identify improvement opportunities. JAS now provides their clients with a business intelligence tool that replaces perception-based decision making with unbiased data analytics to help strengthen supply chains and identify trends. Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our customers, we decided to take this initiative a step further and use our “JAS Business Intelligence Tool” during the discovery stage with potential clients prior to a formal partnership agreement. We first gather historical data from the client as well as other industry platforms such as Datamyne, Zepol and Import Genius. Next, we upload the data into our tool and set up a series of views for an in depth analysis. Performing this exercise allows JAS to better understand the customer’s supply chain model and help clients identify improvement opportunities early in the relationship. Any additional details uncovered during the supply chain assessment are quickly adjusted to provide a more detailed view of the results.
The JAS Business Intelligence Tool translates data into a language that can be understood by all respective departments within an organization at the highest level without having to be a supply chain expert. It also allows for more educated, collective decision making to give customers peace of mind knowing that, although they cannot predict the future, they are more prepared to handle the future with JAS as their partner.

Tomas has a very long and established career in the logistics industry, particularly with Schenker where he held several progressive positions spanning three continents in the period of twenty years. Having lived in Asia since 1992, Tomas is no stranger to this part of the world. Tomas comes to us most recently from Logwin, where he was the Regional Managing Director and a member of the Board. A well-seasoned veteran in the world of transportation with a specialist focus in air freight, Tomas brings his wealth of international experience to JAS. With his high level of drive and enthusiasm, Tomas will set a clear and focused direction for the team in Asia Pacific and will play a pivotal role to maximise the performance of the team.
Tomas has relocated from Hong Kong with his wife Sabrina and has set up home in the island city of Singapore. We look forward to Tomas’ strategic stewardship and rendering him the utmost support as we work together to achieve new heights of success for JAS in the Asia Pacific region.
China is the number one mobile device consumer in the world with over 1.2 billion mobile phone and 370 billion tablet users which is 19% & 32% of the global market respectively for each product.
A well-established U.S. technology customer with a global footprint and growing market share in China. Their products are aimed at servicing the mobile device industry so they decided to partner with JAS Forwarding to further develop their growing China consumer base. Customs in entries in China can be complex and inconsistent which can cause unnecessary delays, penalties, storage charges & excessive processing fees.
This technology customer consulted with JAS Seattle & JAS Corp Trade-lane to provide a long term solution to a customs challenge in China. Their challenge was that China customs claimed their products required a CCC (China Compulsory Certificate) in order for their entry to be processed however the CIQ rejected their application claiming the certificate was not required based upon the specifics provided.
This grey area between the separate government agencies in China caused lengthy delays, additional cost and most importantly hurt the company’s credibility in the China market place. JAS China used their expertise in the customs market to apply for a long term binding ruling for the products in question.
Since this customer’s product is very unique in the marketplace JAS was able to get an exception ruling to the CCC certificate for their products in question. JAS provided a detailed outline on all documents required, expected processing & delivery timeline so the customer could manage their customer expectations and get to the market faster. This solution not only saves thousands of dollars per shipment but most importantly it will help this customer further develop the ever growing China marketplace which is a key to both companies success.
The twelfth season of the GP2 Series, a motor racing feeder series that is run in support of the 2016 FIA Formula One World Championship, is officially underway. The 2016 series kicked off in Barcelona, Spain on May 14-15, 2016. JAS is proud to continue the sponsorship of GP2 driver Raffaele Marciello. Raffaele will be driving for the Russian Time team this season!
A typical race weekend is composed of one 30 minute practice session and then another 30 minute qualifying session which is followed by 2 races that typically take place the following 2 days after the qualifying race. Raffaele qualified 12th before the official races on May 14 & 15 stating "After a really long break, a new GP2 season has started. What can I say about my performance in Barcelona? All in all, I am satisfied. During qualifying (race) the car was well-balanced but I lacked a bit of speed, so I had to settle for 12th place. ". Raffaele placed 8th on the 14th in race 1 and then 5th place the following day in race 2! Taking home a total of 10 points! He continued in his statement about the races, saying "I knew I could do better in race 1, and I did. When I found myself in 14th place I decided to increase the pace and attack with more confidence. It went well, and thanks to a series of overtakings – a few of which were really nice – I climbed to 8th place, and managed to take home four points. On Sunday I started in pole position and tried as hard as I could to stay in front, but at the moment there are a few drivers who are one step ahead. Still, I obtained a good fifth placement and six more points." In the GP2 series the driver with the most points at the end of the season is awarded the championship.
Raffaele concluded his statement by saying "Considering that it was my first official race with my new team (Russian Time), I cannot complain. In about ten days, in Monte Carlo, I aim to do even better."

As you may be aware, amendments to the International Convention for the Safety Of Life At Sea (“SOLAS”), will go into effect globally on July 1, 2016.
The recent amendment, which was adopted by International Maritime Organization (IMO) Member States, requires that a shipper verify the gross mass (Verified Gross Mass or VGM) of a container’s cargo/contents to the underlying carrier and terminal operator. While carriers, terminals and shippers alike will be affected by the new rules, the burden will primarily rest with shippers to provide the VGM.
Without a VGM, the amendments prohibit the vessel operator from loading a packed container.
As stated, from July 1st, the weight of the container and the cargo contained therein must be documented. Estimated weights are not allowed.
There are two options permissible in determining the weight or Verified Gross Mass (VGM) of the cargo and container.
They are as follows:
Method 1: Weighing
After it has been completely packed and sealed, the container can be weighed. The weighing can be performed by the shipper or by a third party contracted by the shipper (please refer to Chapter 5.11 of the SOLAS guideline).
Any scale, weighbridge, lifting equipment or other devices used to verify the gross mass of the container must meet the applicable accuracy standards and requirements of the state in which the equipment is being used (please refer to Chapter 2.1 of the SOLAS guideline).
Method 2: Calculating
All packages and cargo items may be weighed individually (including the mass of pallets, dunnage and other packing and securing material) and must be added to the tare of the container visible on the exterior of the container (please refer to Chapter 5.1.2 of the SOLAS guideline).
The method used for weighing the container’s content is subject to the certification an approval as determined by the competent authority of the state in which the packing and sealing of the container were completed (please refer to Chapter 188.8.131.52 of the SOLAS guideline).
Any weighing equipment used to weigh the contents of the container must meet the applicable accuracy standards and requirements of the state in which the equipment is being used (please refer to Chapter 2.1 of the SOLAS guideline).
There is currently no single document uniformly determined to be acceptable to verify the weight. Rather, the information can come via a weight certificate, separate documentation, or part of the shipping instructions.The amendment states that “irrespective of its form,” the document declaring the VGM should be signed by a person duly authorized by the shipper.
For shipper loaded FCL containers, JAS Forwarding requires a VGM from the shipper. Upon request, JAS Forwarding can have the container and content weighed at an outside weigh station.
Unless JAS Forwarding arranged the weighing of the container or have a weight certificate from an independent authority, JAS Forwarding will require a VGM certification from the shipper prior to the carrier VGM cut off. The VGM cut off will be provided by the carrier at the time of booking.
JAS Forwarding, unless otherwise notified in writing, will ensure that the VGM is communicated to the carrier by one of the following methods:
The carrier itself is not obliged to cross-check the VGM received. Independent of the party verifying and sending the VGM, it remains in the responsibility of the shipper that the carrier and terminal operator receive the information in time.
Once the Ocean Carrier receives the VGM, the Shipper’s responsibilities are complete.
It is unclear yet what stance of the various Ports and Terminals will take globally. Some have announced that they will not accept containers into the terminal unless a VGM has already been submitted. Some have announced that they will accept containers but will be unable to weigh them and others have confirmed that they upon request, they will be able to weigh the container.
However, what is clear is that if the VGM is not received by the VGM cut off, the container cannot be loaded on to the vessel.
As we get closer to the deadline, and industry groups coalesce into creating common forms, we will provide the documentation for the shipper’s certification.

An existing customer of JAS Forwarding, a tech-based Shanghainese firm, approached JAS to handle an out-of-the-norm business situation for one of their most important customers. The shipment commodity being a storage tank which would be filled with Nitrogen gas upon arriving at it's destination, the interior of which must be ensured to be clean and free of liquid and moisture when it arrived at the consignee destination.
Ray Zhao, Senior Sales Executive and his team took up this challenge and began by analyzing the special requirements and handling concerns of this project. After thoroughly understanding the situation, they decided to work with a JAS Projects Oil & GAS office who have similar expertise in handling such commodities and were then able to develop a customized solution for the transportation of the Nitrogen gas.
First, all the shipments are covered with tarp except for the pressure gauge which is on the surface the tank. Careful handling of the tanks is ensured so that no damage is inflicted on the tank which the consignee can identify via the indicator on the pressure gauge. In addition, both bulk cargo vessel and container vessel are offered to the customers so they have more options and flexiblity to meet their customer’s strict delivery date. With such a detailed proposal, JAS stood out from the other forwarders and won the trust and approval to handle the business.
With a good record track, the consignee who is a US-listed chemical corporation now recommends JAS to their vendors and JAS is now receiving new enquiries from them.

As of 2014, the Northeast Asian population of 1.5 billion accounted for 21% of the global population and generated 21% of global GDP. Located between China and Japan, the world’s second and third-largest economies, respectively, Korea is within a 3-hour flight of 147 cities with a population of more than 1 million. With a strong and diverse purchasing power of more than 50 million consumers, Korea is an ideal test bed for global markets and a laboratory in which to explore future markets.
JAS Korea was established in 1987 as a company specializing in freight forwarding and is the Korean branch of the JAS Forwarding Worldwide Network. At its initial establishment, JAS Korea dealt exclusively with air freights, which were made in and imported from Italy. They were mostly fashion items such as clothes, bags, and fabrics. Then, it extended its business field into the seaborne trade as well as airborne trade and began including USA and China. The products it handled have been expanded to automobile parts, machinery, and industrial materials. While Italy still covers the majority of the imports by air freight, the import volume from China by ocean freight has increased. The amount of USA imports and exports also increased by cause of the expansion of the JAS networks within the USA. The core of forwarding is traded volume. As Korea developed into the 8th largest import and export nation in 2014, JAS Korea has grown steadily based on its global logistics network. In the past, 70% of sales were from airborne trade only but currently, the volume of sales by air and ocean are very close in percentage.
JAS Korea built a logistics center in the Free Trade Zone of Incheon international airport. The logistics center that was opened consists of 2 stories above ground as storage and 4 stories above ground as an office, totaling 6 stories. Its total ground area is 3,401 square meters (around 36,610 sq. ft.). Based on this, JAS Korea plans to strengthen its forwarding and 3PL complex logistics services. On the 1st floor of the logistics center at the Incheon International Airport, forwarding products are dealt with as a bonded warehouse and on the 2nd floor, 3PL products are stored. The 2nd floor was designed to be 8 meters high with three level racks (mezzanine racks) to store as much inventory as possible.
Currently, the 3PL contract is complete with a sportswear enterprise handling various sportswear and accessories and a famous fashion enterprise handling materials and parts for high fashion shops.
By using the complex logistics center, the customer can decrease transfer costs as well as time, because products which come from Incheon International Airport go through a clearance process on the first floor of the logistics center and are moved directly to the second floor for inventory storage.
Recently, business has been diversified with the provision of services such as 3PL (3rd Party Logistics), and BWT (the Bonded Warehouse Transaction). Previously 3PL for JAS Korea began as a warehouse rented in Osan, South of Seoul in 2007 providing services exclusively for fashion brand enterprises in Italy. At that time, JAS Korea had focused on expanding its business as competition in the forwarding market was intensified. Customers asked for a one-stop distribution from customs clearance to distribution and, therefore it served as a winning situation for both JAS Korea and the customers to invest in this office and warehouse complex. Since JAS Korea provides a logistics service for the entire process of shipping consistently from the country of origin to the consumers, it relates to a reduction in costs. Combined provisions of forwarding and 3PL prove to be very advantageous.
