The JAS Projects - Oil & Gas China office recently moved five cactus nozzles on container vessels as a break-bulk shipment from China to the job site located in the Jubail industry zone in KSA. The five cactus nozzles belong to a shutdown order of an EPC Project. Dims & weight of the cactus nozzles: L6.90m x W6.60m x H3.30mm / 40 tons each.
JAS PO&G China had to move the cactus nozzles from Maoming city in China to the job site within a short time frame. Given the importance of the cargo, the JAS PO&G China office planned out the most economical method and route within the given time frame for moving the cargo.
Considering the extreme dimensions, the JAS PO&G China office mobilized a sea-going barge to bring the cargo from Maoming to Shekou seaport to connect to the ocean vessel. At Shekou seaport, the JAS PO&G China office worked together with a container carrier to load the five cactus nozzles directly from the barge onto a container vessel under the break bulk model, by which the transit time ex. Shekou port to Damman port was managed & shortened.
Upon cargo arrival at Dammam port, JAS PO&G DMM office positioned axles hydraulic trailers to receive the cargo directly from the vessel and delivered to jobsite at Jubail industry zone.
All five cactus nozzles were successfully delivered to the job site prior to the shutdown date and in good condition.

Established in 1980, JAS Hong Kong is an expert in offering professional freight forwarding service for clients in various business fields. One of those fieldS is food and beverage, one of the verticals in which JAS excels among others in the industry. COOP is a system of Italian consumers' cooperatives which operates the largest supermarket chain in Italy. Buying products directly from associated companies – mainly for food, and sourcing all household items/ accessories from the Far East to Italy (approximately 5,000/ TEUS per year). In November 2017, the Members of the Boards from COOP Italy decided to arrange a tour, visiting in China and Hong Kong to better understand the supply chain process and export logistics procedure. To allow our COOP visitors from Italy to have a real vision on our industry capabilities, an onsite visit to Hong Kong MTL terminal was arranged by JAS Hong Kong, which provided them with a detailed idea of how our local process works, e.g. vessel loading/unloading procedure, terminal workflow and timing. In addition, Mr. Gabriele Benedetti, CEO of JAS China and Hong Kong, was also invited by COOP to be one of the spokespersons in a conference co-organized by COOP and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong on the 13th of November 2017. The shipment, as soon as it arrived at Hong Kong International Airport, was transferred to JAS Hong Kong’s Ocean Freight Warehouse for loading onto containers and flat rack platforms, and then transferred to Macao.
The main structure of the Prada Pop-up Showcase – a full-size railway wagon with window display and marketing areas – was handled by JAS Hong Kong with night deliveries to facilitate unloading and installation operation as per the installation plan provided by Prada. After the Macau showcase, JAS will continue the itinerary of Prada Pop-up Showcases in the Far East touching Korea, Hong Kong, China and Singapore until September 2018.

Prada Japan nominated JAS Japan to handle the shipping of materials required for the renovation of the external facade of their shop in Ala Moana Center Shopping Mall in Hawaii, USA.
The commodities of the shipment were large marble slabs, windows and fittings whose sizes are considered out of gauge. Unfortunately, there are no carriers in Japan that could offer Open Top containers or RO/RO service from Japan to Honolulu, and this shipment was urgently needed in Hawaii. Despite these challenges, JAS Japan managed to come out with an ideal solution where the shipment not only will arrive in a timely manner, but also came with an affordable price tag.
First, JAS Japan engaged experts to look at each of the items and found that it was possible to fit all the items into normal covered containers with some careful planning. In addition, to ensure all the items were well protected throughout the journey, JAS Japan custom-made some of the crates where the tallest fittings fit perfectly into the containers. During the filling of the containers, Senior Logistics Manager of Prada Japan visited our DC and witnessed the entire operation. He was very impressed with JAS' professionalism and the care that the staff gave in handling these items.
Eventually, all of the items were packaged into two 40’High Cube containers which were shipped out in time to Honolulu for the re-opening of the shop.

Do you like potato chips? Potato chips are one of the favorite snacks in South Korea, which require approximately 130,000 Tons of potatoes a year for production.
One important requirement to make good potato chips is to have the potatoes as fresh as possible or else it will not be delicious. During summer time from June to October, South Korea alone can produce approximately 100,000 Tons of potatoes locally, but it is difficult to produce sufficient a quantity of potatoes during winter.
In order to meet market demands and fulfill customer satisfaction in the winter, they must first import and store potatoes from West USA in November and later on import fresh potatoes from Australia, which has summer from December onwards. Due to several reasons, Australia's export for potatoes are increasing rapidly. From January to May of 2016, USA exports were down 65 percent, compared to the same time last year, while Australia exports went up 69 percent.
Potatoes from Australia to Korea require a very special handling process & know-how. Transportation from an Australia Farm to a Korean manufacturers’ plants have to be done by reefer containers, as the potatoes require certain temperature control & ventilation throughout the journey. It is estimated about 1,000 – 1,200 of 40-feet reefer containers were moved in 2016 and same is projected for 2017.
In 2016, JAS Australia and Korea successfully stepped into this business by handling 163 of the 40-feet reefer containers for one of South Korea's major potato chip manufacturing companies. Subsequently, JAS has also secured approximately 400 of the 40-feet reefer containers in 2017 with all three manufacturers. The 2017 business contract was signed at the JAS Sydney office in December 2016 with Australian Supplier, Shingreen Fresh and JAS Australia and Korea.
With Potato Logistics, JAS is not only offering a pure transport service, but also a wide range of associated logistics services, extending from professional ocean shipment to destination storage and other activities specific to the agricultural sector.
JAS will continue to deliver quality potatoes punctually and in good condition so that everyone is able to enjoy their potato chips even in the winter time in South Korea.
