Racing teams worldwide rely on the JAS Worldwide Motorsport Logistics team based in Luxembourg to meet the demanding deadlines faced by a championship motorsport organization.

This past December, JAS organized the movement and transport of four RS Q e-tron cars and a bit more than 7 tons of accessories and equipment from Luxembourg to Riyadh for the account of AUDI Sport & Q Motorsport Gmbh. The high-tech electric prototype vehicles were used as a part of the 2022 Dakar Rallye, which was held in Saudi Arabia from January 1–14, 2022.

The team is currently in the process of transporting several of the cars back to Luxembourg now that the event is over.

Congratulations to the JAS Motorsports team! People continue to make the difference.

Under the best of circumstances, supply chain management can be a complex process. It can be even more complicated during the tropical storm season when the risk of monsoons, typhoons, and hurricanes peaks.

June 1 marks the start of tropical storm season, a time when managing supply chains becomes more challenging due to the heightened risk of monsoons, typhoons, and hurricanes. These adverse weather events can result in high winds and flooding, leading to supply chain delays and disruptions. However, businesses can implement measures and take proactive steps to minimize these risks and help keep their supply chains moving.

  • One critical step is to assess a supply chain's potential risks and vulnerabilities. By identifying which suppliers and transportation routes are most likely to be affected by tropical storms and ensuring that backup plans are in place, supply chains are less likely to be disrupted if severe weather occurs.
  • Prioritizing freight can help prevent further disruptions. Severe weather can cause airport and port closures and they may reopen with limited capacity and backlogs. Knowing which freight is most important can help prevent further disruptions.
  • Diversifying transportation routes can help ensure a company is not overly reliant on any one supplier or transportation mode, reducing the risk of disruptions if a tropical storm impacts a particular supplier or route.
  • Proactively monitoring the weather during tropical storm season is vital. It allows businesses to stay well-informed of impending severe weather that might impact shipment delivery. While forecasts change at a moment’s notice, being aware of the weather forecast and any precautionary measures taken locally, such as port and airport closures and shelter-in-place orders, is essential.
  • In the event of severe weather, maintaining supply chain visibility and real-time access to information about paused and canceled shipments is vital. By maintaining supply chain visibility, you can more easily identify potential problems, allowing you to make early and informed decisions that can help keep your supply chains running smoothly.
  • Maintaining communication with service providers is essential, and it's crucial to ensure they know which cargo is highest priority and receive early warning about needed shipments. This helps reduce delays caused by canceled flights and closed ports, resulting in reduced capacity.

With tropical storm season upon us, it is important to be prepared for whatever disruptions severe weather might bring. Whether it is developing a contingency plan long before severe weather hits or rerouting cargo and utilizing air cargo options when severe weather occurs, JAS can help keep your supply chain running smoothly.
