A new customer approached the JAS Energy Solutions team needing to urgently transport an oversized machine. They had never shipped these machines by air, and the shipment required screening before arrival at Frankfurt Airport (FRA). The tight delivery deadline made ocean freight unfeasible. The machine was borderline too high for nose loading on the plane, and the shipment was scheduled during a holiday week, complicating coordination efforts. Furthermore, flight delays occurred during the holiday weekend and the end customer was initially unable to receive the machine at the agreed delivery time. To add to the complexity, the JAS team would need to obtain a POA from the client and set them up with credit.
After receiving the request, the JAS team took several strategic actions to ensure timely delivery. First, a clear communication channel was established between the shipper and consignee to resolve potential obstacles. Working alongside the client, the JAS team in Sweden picked up and screened the machine before delivery to FRA, ensuring the screening requirement did not delay the shipment. Given the tight timeline, the in-house Blue World Atlantic freighter was used, and the machine was trucked directly to the end customer, providing a reliable solution despite the holiday. Coordinating closely with the customer, JAS addressed the machine’s borderline height for nose loading and gained approval. The team managed logistics smoothly, despite the holiday week, by coordinating between multiple offices and partners. When flight delays threatened the schedule, JAS secured a trucker three times, ensuring the shipment could continue as planned.
The machine was delivered on time, meeting the customer’s deadline despite the multiple challenges. The efficient and collaborative efforts of our team led to high customer satisfaction, turning a potentially stressful situation into a successful logistics operation. The customer reduced costs through negotiated extra free days and avoided additional storage costs by using a remote warehouse solution.
