JAS Forwarding attended the 2019 Coverings Show which took place at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL from April 09th to April 12th.
Coverings Show is the largest event in the vertical sector of Stone, Granite, Marble, Quartzite, Travertine, Quartz and Tiles in North America housing over 1000 exhibitors and 15 thousands visitors in an area of 300.000 square feet. The International exhibitors are visiting from Brazil, India, Italy, Japan, Greece, China, Egypt, Turkey, Israel and Spain.
The outcome of the event was a success. JAS Forwarding was located in the main passage making a high volume of clients passing our greetings. As a result of our past years development, market acknowledgement and support from our long term partnerships with manufacturers, other suppliers and consignees, the event provided a positive numbers of visitors exceeding 60 companies with either existing or potential business partners.
For more than 30 years, Coverings has been the most predominant event for the ceramic tile and natural stone industry. Year after year, visitors from every facet of the tile and stone industry find Coverings to be the most important event to see thousands of new products, new suppliers and new technology to support future growth.

At the 2019 Latin America Sales Meeting the JAS Latin America team had the pleasure of receiving a from Stefano Olmi (VP Sales Asia Pacific) and Margarita (BDM China). This was great opportunity to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the JAS Asia Pacific network and the JAS Latin America network. This meeting also allowed team members to discuss and agree upon strategies moving forward that will aid both regions in better serving their customers.
The presence of Margarita and Stefano in the meeting was commented and complimented by several important JAS customers meetings in Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. Showing our customers that JAS cares all throughout out network.
As part of continuing this strategy several JAS colleagues from Latin America will visit the Asia Pacific region in the coming weeks. JAS APAC and JAS Latin America are sure that this will set the stage for a continuous growth and solid relationships between the two regions.

Along with this new office, JAS also recruited a team of experts to better understand and aid customers. On March 8, 2019, JAS Colombia celebrated its 20 year anniversary.
The celebration took place in the city of Bogota, with enjoyable cocktails with JAS Colombia's most important clients. JAS Colombia was also delighted to be joined by JAS Worldwide Top Management as special guests at the celebration. These guests included Marco Rebuffi (Global CEO), Adrian Emmenegger (EVP Americas), Manuele Mazzacurati, Angelo Simpson, Maria Emilia Davila, Rindo Mariani, and David Gonzalez. All of whom had the opportunity to interact with local clients as well as JAS colleagues.
Such an important milestone shines light on an important milestone for JAS Colombia, which is led by Maria Paula Eslava, its Managing Director. Many elements were obtained from this event: experience, strategy, internal synergies, and a team that wants to work hard to make a difference.

Franck Portet is the new National Sales Manager for JAS Thailand. In his position of Sales Manager, he is responsible for the strategic and tactical oversight of sales activities to ensure that the company objectives are accomplished.
Mr. Portet is originally from France and has over 17 years of experience in the freight forwarding industry and held various roles in his term with JAS ranging from Sales Executive, RDM, KAM. He commenced his International Freight career starting out with JAS in France in 2001, moved to Hong Kong in 2002 before joining JAS Hong Kong in 2005 and JAS Shanghai in 2008.
He has accumulated a solid multicultural office management and sales leadership skills in Asia and has a Master's Degree in Business Management from the EDT school in France.
Franck has a wealth of experience in various verticals such as Manufacturing, Fashion and especially Automotive in China, where he spearheaded the development and growth of a the Global Accounts and MNC with his team of 7 key Account Managers.
As the ASEAN leader in automotive production and sales (2.1 million cars in 2018), Thailand was able to join the top 12 automotive producers worldwide. The country is also the second largest country in Southeast Asia lending to a plethora of business opportunities available to our customers.

We Elevate Our Game!
The beautiful city of Lima, Peru on the Pacific Ocean was the setting for the scenario of the 2019 JAS Latin America Sales Meeting on Feb 6 and 7, 2019.
The protagonists of the meeting were all JAS Sales Managers and Global Account Directors from the nine JAS subsidiaries in Latin America. All of whom did a fantastic job to make it a productive and dynamic meeting. It was an amazing time full of focused discussions and great integration.
The event was hosted by our Latin America Regional VP of Sales & Marketing, Manuele Mazzacurati. The meeting resulted in a great success also thanks to the presence of several special guests such as Stefano Castellazzi (VP Sales & Marketing Italy); Stefano Olmi (VP Sales & Marketing APAC); Margarita Rubio( National Account Manager China), Tony Romano (VP Sales & Marketing USA), Stefano Redditi (EVP Sales & Marketing), Adrian Emmenegger (JAS Americas EVP), Matt Ross (VP Supply Chain Solutions), Matthew Burgess (VP Global Ocean Consolidation Services), Lars Huebecker (VP of Ocean Freight Americas).
During the two days of activities, attendees had a chance to analyze 2018 results and set strategies for 2019. This, in addition to several workshops, focused on customer solutions.
We appreciated everyones participation and contribution to this event, which was great and well organized with the help of JAS Peru.

Mr. Stefano Olmi, JAS VP Sales & Marketing- APAC, was excited to host his very first APAC Regional Sales Meeting on the 2nd & 3rd of October 2018 in Regent Singapore. During the meeting, the Head of Sales from all APAC country offices were encouraged to share their current setups and actions to improve their local performance and ability to aid their customers. Mr. Tomas Sonntag (EVP – APAC) also shared APAC performance and key issues as well as the current market situation presented by Head of Products. JAS APAC were also pleased to invite special guests -Mr. Stefano Redditi, JAS Worldwide EVP Sales & Marketing, and Mr. John O’Connor JAS Worldwide EVP Strategic Development to share with JAS APAC corporate news and updates, keeping the entire company together on the same page.
It was a fruitful meeting and the takeaways from Mr. Olmi were very valuable to everyone. JAS APAC will elevate their game continuously and are looking forward to a successful 2019!
JAS Hong Kong is well known as a freight forwarding service provider and one of the market leaders in fashion logistics. On October 15th, 2018, JAS Hong Kong was honored to provide a half-day session to a group of students majoring in International Fashion Retail from Reutlingen University in Germany, which included a fashion warehouse visit and seminar in the Hong Kong office by the JAS Hong Kong team.
Thanks to JAS Italian heritage, fashion runs through our blood at JAS, and JAS Hong Kong has a strong presence in major luxury and fashion brands as one-stop solution provider from freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution, to value-added services, etc. The students from Reutlingen University were invited to the Fashion Centre of Tsing Yi Warehouse, where they saw the flow of hi-end fashion garments importing from Europe via Garment-on-Hanger (GOH) and Flat-Pack consol, and value-added service including pick-and-pack, tagging, quality control and inventory management. In addition, Mr. Alex Chau, Director – Airfreight of Hong Kong & South China, and Ms. Marta Masetto, Head of Trade lane for Italy of Hong Kong & South China, shared their experience on fashion cargo operation, tailor-made GOH consol cargo in both Air Freight and Ocean Freight, as well as the development of China luxury market which is supported by partners like JAS who understand the complexity and unique nature of the country. The students were excited to learn more on the topics and raised questions on both fashion cargo and future prospects of the China luxury market.

Being the second largest economy and second largest importer and consumer around the globe, China has entered a new development stage during which consumption keeps increasing, indicating an enormous potential for the growth of consumption and import. To boost trade between China and other countries, as well as further open China market to the world, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and Shanghai Municipal Government hosted China International Import Expo (CIIE), the first-ever import-oriented expo in Shanghai China, on November 5th – 10th 2018. The expo is jointly sponsored by the World Trade Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. JAS China is proud to be invited as one of the 2,800 exhibitors in the Shanghai expo, attracting global distributors in inquiring importing service to China.
According to source, China is estimated to import more than 10 trillion US dollars’ worth of products and services to meet the need of its 1.4 billion people in the next five years. It provides a historic opportunity for global companies to enter this massive market. During CIIE, JAS China has met a lot of clients, potential clients and suppliers and discussed possible cooperation in and out China.

The first edition of the Americas Regional JAS Management Program, Leading Into the Future meeting took place in 2018 and consisted of Managing Directors and Directors from all over the region whose scope of responsibilities within their countries include Operations, Sales & Marketing, and Finance.
Leading into the Future, a JAS Management Program is a highly interactive program which includes online training, individual analysis, and personalized coaching. These processes and tools give individuals the ability to unleash their full, individual, potential as well as gives them the drive to energize their teams and empower others to consistently achieve higher levels of performance.
This higher level of performance allows JAS to deliver better and more consistent results to our customers by focusing on results through four modules. These four modules focus on you as a leader, your team, our organization, and an integrated view of all three.
The JAS Aid & Relief Logistic office based in Rome, IT, recently delivered an urgent supply of ebola vaccines to a high profile humanitarian agency in Entebbe, Uganda. This shipment is a fundamental step for the vaccination campaign aimed to defeat ebola in the D.R. Congo and will cover the needs of thousands of people.
The transportation carried 345 pallets for a total of 65,50 tons and 320 CBM. JAS Aid & Relief Logistics had to move the medications from Germany to Uganda in the fastest possible way. This was achieved by reaching Liege airport, Belgium, where a dedicated hired charter B747-400F aircraft was ready to fly directly to Entebbe airport, Uganda.
Vaccines were successfully delivered in less than a couple of days from origin warehouse to destination, providing a punctual service, crucial in these situations.
JAS Worldwide recently held a workshop for JAS agents in the Asia Pacific region. The meeting was the first of its kind as part of the company’s commitment to expand its global reach. The workshop was an open forum exploring how JAS APAC agents could further elevate JAS metrics for 2019 and the years to come.
Participants came from New Zealand, Pakistan, The Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia.
Joining the gathering from JAS included Asia’s EVP, Asia’s Air VP, Asia’s Sales VP, the Managing Director of JAS Thailand, and JAS Worldwide Management’s VP of Agent Relations.
Special invites to the meeting included Israel’s Reuven Krief who spoke about his valued experience as a JAS agent, India’s National Manager Ocean Freight, who provided valuable information and offered support in the Indian sub-continent, and USA’s Senior Director of Air Freight who presented the USA’s Air Product and solutions.
All participants left the workshop enthusiastic about elevating their game.
Joao Machado is the new National Account Director for JAS USA. In his position as Director, he is responsible for directing the sales development, procurement and collaboration strategies activities within the Natural Stone Vertical on a national level.
Mr. Machado is originally from Brazil and he has over 19 years of experience in the Freight Forwarding industry in the areas related to Sales, Operations, Ocean Procurement and Management. He is specialized in the industry of Natural Stones out of Brazil, Italy, India, Spain, China and many other countries and he will be able to assist JAS networking and customers with any questions or concerns. For many years Mr. Machado was globally responsible for moving the exhibitions of the Granite fairs in Vitoria (Brazil), Coverings (USA) and Verona (Italy). He is fluent in Portuguese and English and he has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Brazil.
Joao Machado started his career with Figwal, a Brazilian based freight forwarder and moved up to multinational companies such as ABX Logistics and DSV Group. Joao originally joined JAS in December of 2009 in Vitoria, Brazil to develop the Natural Stone Vertical. Even though Joao started as the head of the stone division for JAS Brazil, his experience in P&L, sales, operations and product, allowed him to also held other important positions such as Regional Sales Manager, Branch Manager (Santos Office), and National Trade Lane Manager for the Southbound USA-Brazil. Due to Joao’s very long and established career in this Vertical, in 2015, Joao accepted the challenge to join JAS USA as part of the Natural Stone Development team together with Mr. Leon Kouyoumdjian, to leverage JAS business presence in this specific market, provide customers a competitive advantage for their businesses and improve the value of the industry with respect to capacity and specialized services.
As the biggest stone market in the world, with total consumption of over US $30 billion in 2018, the US market trends are of the highest importance to many stone processing factories all over the world to mention some: Brazil, Italy, Spain, India, China, Turkey, Greece, Vietnam etc.
