Cargolux Honors JAS
July 18, 2016

July 18, 2016 – Cargolux Airlines International S.A. honors its top customers, including JAS Forwarding Worldwide, for their continued support and trustful cooperation by adding their name and logos to the livery of its aircraft with a ‘Powered By’ slogan.

The first three Cargolux 747 freighters now carry the added branding of a major customer, one being JAS Forwarding Worldwide, each logo along with the familiar, distinctive Cargolux colors. More company names will appear on additional members of the fleet in the near future and JAS is honored to be one of the first customers honored with a "Powered By" slogan. With this gesture, Cargolux underlines the importance of its successful long-term relations with the world’s freight forwarders who play an important role in the global supply chains and who continue to power Cargolux’s success. JAS knows that long-term partnerships with their carriers, like the one maintained with Cargolux, are paramount to long term success in the freight forwarding industry and we are excited to be part of this distinguished campaign.

"For JAS, the customer is everything," said Stefano Redditi, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for JAS. "To better serve our customers we need partners that will listen and respond to our needs fast! Cargolux has been one of those key partners for JAS for many years. We are happy to fly some of our cargo on an airplane which now carries our logo."

Cargolux has begun to apply the branding of its partners to its aircraft during festive celebrations in the presence of customers representatives and Cargolux management. The combined colors will appear throughout the Cargolux network on airports around the world. This was the case on Monday July 18, 2016 when JAS Forwarding Worldwide management and Cargolux management witnessed and celebrated the unveiling of the "Powered By JAS Forwarding Worldwide" insignia on one of their 747 freighters.

“For Cargolux, 2016 is the ‘Year of the Customer,'” says Niek van der Weide, Cargolux EVP Sales & Marketing. “We focus our efforts and energy on what our partners in the industry require from us and strive to offer perfect solutions for their needs. Working with our customers in a mutually beneficial partnership, it is an honor for Cargolux to carry their name and logos on its freighters as a sign of friendship and the strengthening of our common goals.”

JAS South Africa : A Gateway to Space
July 5, 2016

JAS in Johannesburg was recently awarded the transportation and logistics contract for the Gateway to Space exhibition at the Johannesburg Convention Centre in South Africa.

Quick facts about the exhibition

  • It was created with input from NASA and the US Space & Rocket Centre, as well as archeologists and geologists.
  • It changes cities around the world every two to three months
  • Contains 60 space artifacts.
  • It covers about 3.400 m² of floor space.
  • Space suits are transported in atmosphere-controlled boxes.
  • Some 40 short videos explaining the various exhibits are included.
  • It boasts an interactive space area.

Some of the articles you will see at the exhibition

  • Sputnik 1: The first space satellite
  • Lunar rover model: The battery-operated space exploration vehicle that can move around and transport people on the surface of the moon.
  • Sokol SK-1 Space suit: The space suit designed for Yuri Gagarin for the first manned space launch in 1961.
  • A Space Shuttle cockpit: This flight deck, with controls for life support, landing and steering, was the heart of the Space Shuttle.
  • Space food: Most space food simply requires hot water to prepare, see what they eat in space!
  • Orion: It’s destined to be the safest, most advanced spacecraft built and earmarked to be suitable to take humans to a variety of destinations.
  • Moon rock: Between 1969 and 1972 six Apollo missions brought back 382 kilograms of moon rock. Come and touch one of these rocks.
  • Vostok rocket: The Soviet rocket that launched the first human in space.

Scope of work handled by JAS South Africa

Timing was critical as the exhibition started on the 1st June 2016, and time was not on our side.

20 x 40’cntrs were shipped ex Amsterdam to Johannesburg under a Carnet ATA. These containers had to be delivered in specific sequential order at specific times to facilitate the off-loading and unpacking on site.

Due to the fragility of the material, the Contractor Media 24 had to fly in a professional team to co-ordinate and facilitate the unpacking and assembling of the artifacts.

The exhibition will run for two months and then has to be re-exported to a country still to be determined in Europe. JAS will be appointed for the export.

The delivery fortunately went without any incidents and in true JAS fashion, we applied a personal touch to ensure service excellence.

Congratulations to the job well done by the JAS South Africa team, our Gateway to Space!

China, Germany, and the USA: Always Close Together
July 5, 2016

The biannual JAS Germany management meeting was held May 12 & 13, 2016 in Neu-Isenburg/Germany. 26 participants from all German branches met to evaluate current national and global programs to share best practices and to set priorities for the coming months.

One key topic was the successful roll out of our CargoWise One (C1) System in Germany, effective April 1, 2016. Our globally used software enables JAS Germany to now provide JAS Worldwide Service Standards to all of our customers. Juergen Erdt (JAS MD Germany) said: “To make this roll out a success, we had the full engagement of the JAS Germany employees, together with our overseas colleagues, supporting this important milestone!”

The stand out of the meeting was to welcome the Management teams of China and USA in Germany. The Chinese team was led by Mr. Gabriele Benedetti (CEO JAS China), Mrs. Lavinia Chan (Sales Director Southern China), and Mr. Andrea Azzimonti (Sales Director Northern & Central China), supported by Mr. Bernd Meyer (VP Sales Asia). The USA team was composed of Mr. Adrian Emmenegger (President & CEO of JAS USA), Mr. Tony Romano (VP Sales & Marketing USA), and Mr. Bjoern Wiede (Trade Lane Director).

This joined meeting was the ideal platform to present and strengthen two of the most important trade regions for JAS Germany. The encounter enabled German management to meet personally with key managers and allowed for very constructive conversations on our strategies, our best practices and our next actions to develop our services. With full commitment from all parties, this event will positively impact the development of the JAS Worldwide trade-lane strategy, and continue our reach for total customer satisfaction goals.

JAS Trade Lane Development Between Germany & USA
July 5, 2016

JAS Forwarding is pleased to present the new management team for our important Trade Lane Germany – USA. Benjamin Gundlach, based in Munich, just joined JAS Germany as the new Trade Lane Director for the US beginning in May, 2016. Before he joined JAS Germany, Benjamin worked as Trade Lane Manager in Munich for the last year, right after returning from Atlanta, GA, where he worked as a Trade Lane/Sales Manager also with focus on Germany.

His counterpart, Bjoern Wiede, Trade Lane Director for Germany and based in Atlanta, GA, is a German-educated freight forwarder and has been living in the US for 13 years. Bjoern joined JAS in the beginning of February and most recently worked as Trade Lane Manager for the USA and Europe with a major forwarder.

With Germany being one of the top five trading partners for the USA and the USA being the number one trading partner for Germany, “Made in Germany” as a seal of quality is highly recognized amongst US companies driving exports and imports between both countries. Most German companies have since long established a foothold in the US market and are supplying American companies and consumers with their products and vice versa. The main industries that drive the trade between these economic powers have for several years remained but are not limited to manufacturing, healthcare and chemical, and of course, the automotive industries.

Benjamin’s and Bjoern’s focus will be to intensify JAS customer relations with German and American prospects, develop new business initiatives, and expand the current business relationship with our local and global JAS customer base geared towards their trade lane.

The current customer service oriented setup in both countries, with Air and Ocean services as well as Brokerage solutions, is making JAS a strong and reliable partner for any customer needing freight forwarding services. Besides JAS' own weekly consolidated ocean container, which is routed through our gateway in Hamburg to Charleston, SC we have regular air freight consolidations in place with two or more uplifts per week from the gateway in FRA to IAH, ATL, SFO, ORD and JFK.

Next to intensifying new and current customer relations, the team’s goal is also to increase the existing range of services. The plan is to also implement consolidation services in the USA with regular air freight schedules to Frankfurt and additional consolidated ocean containers to the USA and vice versa.

JAS Germany and JAS USA have committed themselves to push the growth and the customer satisfaction on the USA – Germany trade lane and we are excited to welcome Benjamin and Bjoern to the team to spearhead this initiative.

JAS Dubai Offers Sea Air Solution
June 30, 2016

With the slow streaming trend initiated by ocean carriers, coupled with unexpected congestion in some of the major ports, the JAS Sea/Air product has been a major cost-saving alternative for many customers across the globe.

When ocean freight becomes too late to supply its customers or factories, Sea/Air service is an alternative instead of paying high cost direct air freight transportation. Dubai is home to one of the world’s largest airports and its unique location makes it the earth’s natural hub.

All major carriers operate directly in and out of the United Arab Emirates, making it an ideal location with a unique cost savings advantage. Combining geographical advantage by linking Asia to the rest of the world, along with outstanding local infrastructure, both DXB and DWC cargo terminals are designed to meet the needs of customers with EFFICIENT AND COST SAVINGS SOLUTIONS.

Whether your cargo is destined for Europe, the Americas or Africa, JAS – through its Jebel Ali & DXB hubs can provide the best quality & price for Sea/Air services. Although limited to specific products, the service is used with great success for e-goods, mid fashion retail and from origins where uplift is scarce.

For more information, please contact your local JAS office in APAC, EMEA or North America.

Domestic Truck Services in Belguim
June 30, 2016

Did you know Belgium was declared independent on October 4th, 1830, after a revolution that started August 25th that same year? JAS Belgium, as a fully owned subsidiary, was founded much later.

After an introduction meeting with Stefan Sigg, the executive vice president of the JAS EMEA Region, organized by René Kruse from JAS Netherlands, followed some time later by a meeting with JAS President and CEO Marco Rebuffi and Stefan Sigg, the foundations for the birth of JAS Forwarding Worldwide Belgium NV, were made.

With the official opening on April 1st 2011, JAS BE started its activities with a total staff of nine employees. Their primary task was to safeguard the customer base in to and out of Belgium, previously handled by a former agent, representing JAS in the area. Today, just after their 5th anniversary, they have a team of 24 professionals in place, out of which six run the Brussels airport office and the remainder are based in Antwerp. JAS Belguim also houses four JAS Projects - Oil and Gas colleagues in their Antwerp office.

JAS Belgium is proud to say that out of the nine pioneers who started up at JAS Belgium, only one employee is no longer with the team. The rest of the team is still fully on board today. Client retention is important, and therefore staff retention is even more important!

Business wise, JAS BE started off with 100 percent of its business controlled by overseas offices. Today, this number is around 67 percent control of our business in Belgium. This turn around was possible by offering customers more than just a rate. JAS Belgium offers full visibility, reporting and traceable communication, and 24/7 support at all operations and management levels. This approach has allowed JAS Belgium to convince major shippers & importers to trust JAS with their business. In fact, many clients awarded JAS Belgium more lanes than initially planned, thanks to our proactive and professional approach.

In 2015, JAS BE was also awarded the AEO-certification.

JAS BE was an unknown freight forwarder prior 2011 in Belgium.  In fact, even today JAS is not yet commonly known in the BE market which by default is a great opportunity. We are the challenger and we can make the difference!

Now, as a new important milestone, JAS Belgium has acquired its own JAS-branded truck, which will cover the Belgium territory to handle pick-ups and deliveries. This brings JAS Belgium to another level to guarantee the best and timely services for our customers.

For any questions, requests or quotes, please do not hesitate to contact the JAS Belgium team!
