As part of its continued digital transformation, the customer identified the need for greater visibility across its international shipments to improve decision-making and streamline internal workflows. While the company already maintained a reliable logistics network, its teams relied heavily on manual updates to track and report shipment information, spending several hours each day consolidating data from various sources.
To strengthen operational efficiency, they sought to automate the process through real-time data integration. However, this marked the company’s first experience with external Application Programming Interface (API) technology. Without predefined data structures or prior integration experience, building a seamless connection between systems required both technical customization and collaborative problem-solving.
JAS worked closely with a combination of the customer’s IT and integration teams to develop a tailored API solution that would integrate shipment data directly into the company’s internal systems. The custom-built API was designed to be lightweight, flexible, and easy to implement, ensuring accessibility for a team with limited technical experience while still meeting complex data and reporting requirements.
The integration enabled automatic synchronization of critical shipment information, including booking details, vessel and port data, estimated and actual departure and arrival times, container information, order references, and invoice details. This real-time access allowed the customer to view, analyze, and act on shipment updates immediately, without relying on manual inputs or delayed reporting cycles.
By collaborating closely during the implementation phase, JAS ensured that the customer’s internal teams were fully supported and confident using the new system. The end result was a smooth integration that not only enhanced visibility but also strengthened trust in the data driving day-to-day operations.
