Sydney, 16th June – JAS Australia has strengthened its growing perishables logistics capability with the opening of a new temperature-controlled facility in Sydney. The new cool rooms support Australian exporters and feature advanced fumigation technology, which reduces environmental impact.
The investment expands JAS Australia’s ability to manage temperature-sensitive cargo and provide integrated storage, handling and treatment services for customers operating in highly regulated international markets.
Eco- friendly fumigation chamber
A key feature of the facility is a purpose-built fumigation chamber equipped with a methyl bromide recapture system that captures and processes fumigation gases rather than releasing them into the atmosphere. The technology supports the most advanced compliant fumigation treatment while significantly reducing environmental impact compared to traditional methods.

The chamber has a footprint of 42.35 square meters and a volume of 148.23 cubic meters and can accommodate up to 4 PMC pallets in a single fumigation cycle.
The capability supports both import and export operations, providing customers with a streamlined solution for products moving through Australia’s supply chain. According to Jason Radford, JAS Australia’s Managing Director, the investment reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Australian exporters with specialised logistics infrastructure and services.
“Australia produces some of the world’s highest-quality agricultural and food products, and access to efficient, compliant supply chain solutions is critical for exporters competing in global markets,” said Radford.
“From fresh fruit and vegetables to premium meat, seafood, dairy products, flowers and horticultural products, these exports rely on specialised handling and cold chain expertise to reach international markets in peak condition. This investment strengthens our ability to support customers throughout that journey.”

Perishables continue to be a strategic focus for JAS Australia, with the business seeing growing opportunities across agricultural exports and temperature-sensitive cargo. The new facility enhances JAS Australia’s ability to provide end-to-end solutions for customers requiring cold chain management, bio-security compliance and international freight services.
The opening also aligns with broader industry efforts to improve sustainability outcomes across logistics and supply chain operations. By incorporating fumigation gas recapture technology into the facility design, JAS Australia is helping reduce emissions associated with treatment processes while maintaining the high standards required for international trade. The facility further strengthens JAS Australia’s national logistics network and supports the company’s ongoing investment in specialised infrastructure, customer service and supply chain innovation.
