JAS Australia BMSB Seasonal Measures 2026/2027 Now in Effect
JAS Customer Advisory

Dear Valued Customer,

We are writing to advise of the upcoming Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) seasonal measures for the 2026/2027 season, which will apply to targeted goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries.

Seasonal measures will apply to shipments between 1 September 2026 and 30 April 2027 (inclusive) and to vessels that berth, load, or tranship from target risk countries within the same period.

Please note that the Shipped on Board date, as indicated on the Ocean Bill of Lading, is the date used to determine when goods have been shipped. Gate-in dates and times will not be accepted.

What is new this season?

  • Addition of a NEW onshore BMSB treatment option: Ethyl Formate

  • Removal of the Rolled Goods Policy

  • Removal of the Safeguarding Scheme

Air Freight

Random inspections will continue to apply to target high-risk goods shipped as air freight from the United States of America and China between 1 September and 30 April (inclusive). BMSB treatment of these goods will not be required.

You can find the full details on target risk countries, affected goods and seasonal measures on the Australian Government DAFF website: BMSB Seasonal Measures – DAFF
