JAS Netherlands Launches New Parcel Automation System

JAS Netherlands has expanded its parcel processing capabilities with a new automated system at its Amsterdam warehouse, giving customers a faster and more precise way to prepare high volumes of parcels for last-mile delivery.

The system automates key steps in the parcel handling process, including scanning, weighing, dimensioning, and re-labeling, and can process up to 2,100 parcels per hour. Together, these capabilities help streamline parcel processing while improving the consistency and accuracy of shipment information.

A standout feature is the system’s automated last-mile re-labeling capability, which addresses a traditionally manual step in parcel processing. Using machine vision, the system identifies the existing label on each parcel, determines the precise location for the new shipping label, and directs robotic arms to apply it directly over the existing label.

This combination of machine vision and robotics allows JAS to automate the precise placement of new shipping labels across high volumes of parcels. The capability is particularly valuable for customers whose parcels may require new last-mile labels as they move into different delivery networks.

By automating the re-labeling process, JAS can reduce manual handling while helping improve labeling consistency and accuracy. The automated scanning, weighing, and dimensioning functions also capture key parcel information as shipments move through the system, supporting more reliable data throughout the operation.

“This investment gives us new capabilities to support our customers as their parcel volumes and last-mile requirements continue to evolve,” said Jun Inomata, Global Director Warehouse Operations & Security. “The combination of automated processing, machine vision, and robotic labeling allows us to handle high volumes while maintaining the precision and consistency our customers expect.”

The new system represents a significant advancement in JAS Netherlands’ parcel processing capabilities and further expands the value-added services available to customers. By combining high-volume automation with precision last-mile re-labeling, JAS can help customers move parcels through the operation more efficiently and prepare them for their next stage of delivery.
