From Port to Plant: Seamless Heavy Equipment Delivery
A global leader in flow control solutions who delivers engineered equipment and aftermarket services for mission-critical applications across oil & gas, chemical processing, power generation, water management, and general industrial sectors.
Heavy-Lift Handling Requirements
The shipment consisted of three industrial engines, each weighing approximately 42 tons and packed in heavy-duty wooden cases. The size and weight of the cargo required specialized lifting equipment, reinforced stowage, and coordination between barge operators, terminal crews, and the ocean carrier.
Tight Export Timeline
The shipper required immediate cargo collection, even though the scheduled mother vessel would arrive several days later. A solution was needed to prevent delays while maintaining cargo safety.
Direct Barge-to-Vessel Transshipment
Executing a direct transfer from barge to vessel required precise operational timing and seamless coordination among multiple stakeholders.
On-Schedule Final Delivery in Genoa
Following ocean transport, the engines needed to be discharged at the Port of Genoa and delivered to the customer’s warehouse on time.
To meet urgent export requirements, JAS implemented a barge pre-carriage strategy.
The engines were loaded directly onto a barge, where they remained securely stored until the mother vessel arrived. This approach eliminated terminal storage and ensured immediate readiness for transfer.
Heavy-lift equipment and certified lifting teams were deployed throughout the operation. Detailed lift plans and reinforced flat rack stowage were prepared to ensure maximum safety and stability.
A coordinated operational window was established between the carrier, terminal operator, stevedores, and barge company, enabling direct barge-to-vessel transfer.
Upon arrival in Genoa, terminal and inland transport providers ensured efficient discharge, clearance, and final delivery to the customer’s warehouse.
The operation was seamlessly executed from origin to final delivery, demonstrating heavy-lift expertise across multiple transport modes.
Through barge pre-carriage, temporary onboard storage, and direct transshipment onto the mother vessel, the shipment moved safely and efficiently from Japan to Italy.
At the Port of Genoa, the engines were discharged and delivered to the customer’s warehouse highlighting JAS’s ability to manage complex, time-sensitive heavy-lift logistics with precision and reliability.
