The new branch, located in Southern Germany, is fully operational and offers Air Freight, Ocean Freight, and Customs Brokerage services.

Furthermore, as a part of the efforts to help customers reduce their CO2 emissions, JAS has increased the use of FCL rail services on the CHINA-ITALY section, transporting individual units or coordinating block trains entirely reserved for JAS. Eco-sustainable, with low environmental impact, the service currently offers a competitive transit time compared to current maritime services.
In further news, to better serve our customer's needs in this rapidly changing environment, on July 14, 2021, JAS Italy completed the acquisition of the company Bossi & C. Transiti S.p.A.. Specializing in the maritime field and headquartered in Genoa, branches will operate out of Verona and Vercelli while maintaining a commercial/operational office in Hong Kong.

Arzu joined JAS in 2020 as the head of the Air Export team in Dusseldorf. Prior to joining the JAS team Arzu worked for more than 15 years at a Swiss based logistics company where she held a variety of Ops and Sales positions.
August 10th marked a very special day for JAS UAE as it celebrated its 30th anniversary, the day JAS UAE's commercial license was officially issued by the Dubai Government in 1991.

This is exactly what happened for Christian Jensen when he joined JAS Germany as a Business Development Manager in 2016. In his role, he took advantage of the resources and support found from both local colleagues and the global JAS network. By late 2017 he was effectively managing large accounts and developing worldwide contacts as he worked to help clients meet their goals while providing them with the highest level of service.
Christian’s success continued as he became a Trade Lane Manager for Southeast Asia. In only three and a half years, his enthusiasm and commitment, combined with support from the JAS team, led to another promotion. As the new National Account Manager/Director he found continued success growing JAS’ presence on the Southeast Asia trade lane.
Recently Christian was presented with the opportunity to join the Asia Pacific team (APAC) as a Global Account Director. He knew this position would allow him to work with some of the most talented and dedicated people in the industry, increase his day-to-day responsibilities and provide continued opportunities for personal development. With these opportunities in mind, he eagerly accepted the position and moved to Malaysia where he continues to provide the personalized service JAS is known for.
The past five years have moved quickly as he went from a local office to Global Account Director. Looking back, he gives credit to JAS and the people who helped him along the way. “We know JAS is known to our clients as a place where people make the difference, but it holds true within JAS as well. The people here really do make the difference and that kind of environment encourages success for team members and clients alike.”

JAS Germany is pleased to announce that effective August 15, Mrs. Stephanie Wohlketzetter will take over the position of Branch Manager of our Munich office. Stephanie was previously responsible as Manager Freight Forwarding for the air and sea freight activities at Tigers.
Following the merger with Tigers, JAS Germany more than doubled the size of the local team, which brings additional opportunities for growth in the near future for JAS in Munich. JAS Spain announced the opening of its newest branch in Bilbao.
JAS’ new office in Bilbao is strategically placed due to its geographic location near the Port of Bilbao, which is among the top five busiest ports in Spain and has an annual container volume of close to 1 million TEUs. The port is well connected by both road and rail, with long-distance trains providing railway connections to its dry dock network, including Guadalajara, Madrid, and Burgos.
The Bilbao office is fully operational, offering full container and consolidation loads, ship and aircraft chartering, and other logistic services such as project logistics, cargo insurance, and supply chain optimization. The office is also ISO 9002 and 14,001 certified, IATA agent certified, and Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certified, among others.
JAS Bilbao has the people and tools needed to provide logistics and supply chain support across various verticals and provide tailor-made solutions for all shipping needs from booking through delivery. Due to dramatic growth last year, JAS UK had to quickly find a location that could accommodate its expanding business. A new facility was located in a perfect location to deliver & retrieve cargo at Heathrow.
To aid productivity JAS UK procured a 2nd X-ray machine & invested in a powered roller bed ULD system which will allow a much quicker transfer of build and empty equipment, allowing for a fast turnaround of the 90-100 units it is building on a daily basis . The operation is a true 24/7 service with three warehouse shifts in operation. The Heathrow facility now sets the stage for optimal operation for a minimum of ten years growth with the ability to add a mezzanine floor should demand dictate. JAS UK now has eight dock leveled doors at Heathrow to facilitate quick loading and de-vanning of ocean containers, which represents 50% of JAS UK's business.

With a 57% reduction in passenger flights since this time last year, the overall global air freight capacity is down about 17% from this time last year.
In the China to Europe lane capacity is down about 18% from the same period last year.
Limited space on remaining flights means frequent delays and interruptions of supply chains globally.
With the unpredictable availability of cargo space, how do we regain control of air freight to ensure service in such a critical time?
The traditional air freight model is no longer a realistic option, instead, alternative approaches are the key to maintaining a reliable and uninterrupted supply chain by providing door-to-door control of the shipping process. It is crucial that every step of the process - from the time the cargo is picked up to its final delivery - is meticulously managed by the service provider with shipments processed through facilities controlled by the service provider, both at origin and destination, avoiding the typical congestion at airport hubs, reducing overall transit time, and increasing control.

JAS Germany has announced the arrival of Sebastian Hilfer as National Account Manager for the South Germany Region.
Sebastian comes to JAS with more than 10 years of experience within the forwarding industry, with most of his time being spent in Sales. At his previous employer, he went through several sales levels, and most recently worked as Global Key Account Manager.
In his new role, Sebastian will strengthen our Sales Team by focusing on additional growth especially within the South German industry sectors.

On March 31st the HARTMANN GROUP began utilizing JAS’ charted flight operations to facilitate the supply of masks throughout Europe. Based in Heidenheim, Germany, HARTMANN is a leading provider of medical and hygiene products, with its core expertise being in wound treatment, infection prevention, surgical supplies, and personal healthcare.
HARTMANN turned to JAS to help it supply critically needed N95 masks to the governments of Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. These shipments are flown by JAS from Shanghai to Frankfurt for distribution to not only government entities, but also to pharmacies for wider distribution to non-governmental organizations and the public at large.
JAS continues to leverage its expertise in chartered flight operations, export and import clearance, and general distribution services for HARTMANN as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to put pressure on supply chains throughout the globe. JAS is committed to supporting efforts of customers like HARTMANN as they work to provide medical supplies when and where they are needed most.

JAS is proud to say that Protezione Civile trusted JAS with shipments vital to keeping the supply chain functioning. JAS is managing charter flights from and to several countries around the world to ensure continuity of the supply chain during the current emergency situation we, as a species face.
JAS China and JAS Italy cooperated once more in March 2020 to handle another chartered flight of relief supplies and JAS Italy is also providing domestic distribution of relief material to all the Italian regions. Specifically, JAS handled another charter flight (AN124) departed from Pudong Int'l Airport on 31st March, carrying disaster-relief materials. Off-Loading phase of this Charter flight was supervised by a special JAS employee, our own JAS Italy Managing Director, Leonardo Baldi. Baldi was the keynote speaker during an interview done for a national Italian television broadcast. During his speech, Baldi explained how JAS Italy is acting on behalf of the Italian Civil Defense and distributing relief material for many hospitals and regions throughout Italy.

JAS EMEA is excited to announce the creation of the JAS EMEA Aerospace team. The newly developed JAS EMEA Aerospace team is spear-headed by two specialists, Jean-Philippe Borie and Julien Delahaye.
Jean-Philippe Borie is the Account Director for JAS Aerospace and is based in Toulouse, France. Jean-Philippe has a more than 20 years experience in the freight forwarding industry for a variety of Aerospace companies. He was the Regional Sales Manager of Aerospace for South West Europe for four years and Head of Global Tender Management Aerospace & Defense for six years prior to joining JAS.
Julien Delahaye joins JAS as the Business Development Manager for Aerospace accounts and is based in Paris, France. Julien has solidified experience in the Aerospace Industry, working at a large freight forwarding group as Key Account Manager, and Global Tender Management Aerospace & Defense for four years prior to joining JAS.

This new entity will enable JAS Projects - Oil & Gas to demonstrate local content when competing for projects related to the country's oil field and refining development. The company is located within the Kampala office of Kenfreight, which will handle any local operations.

Dubai, the city that is on the world’s radar!
Just mention the D word and see the light in people’s eyes. This is the result of many years of planning, sweat, hard work and a vision like no other.
When oil was discovered in 1966, Sheikh Rashid utilized the oil revenues to spur infrastructure development in Dubai. Schools, hospitals, roads, a modern telecommunications network … the pace of development was frenetic. A new port and terminal building were built at the Dubai International Airport. A runway extension that could accommodate any type of aircraft was implemented. The largest man-made harbor in the world was constructed at Jebel Ali, and a free zone was created around the port.
Dubai's formula for development was becoming evident to everyone – visionary leadership, high-quality infrastructure, an expatriate-friendly environment, zero tax on personal and corporate income and low import duties. The result was that Dubai quickly became a business and tourism hub for a region that stretches from Egypt to the Indian sub-continent and from South Africa to what are now called the CIS countries.
Since the 1960s, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, then ruler of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum had dreamed of creating a federation of the Emirates in the region. THE CURRENT ENVIRONMENT IN SOUTH AFRICA
With the political situation in South Africa seeming to begin to settle down, business confidence and international investment in the country are on the rise. If the newly elected president of the main political party is able to continue his drive towards a non-corrupt local government and manages to turn around certain dysfunctional state owned enterprises, the country will move even further forward.
A stronger local currency, trading at levels last seen over three years ago to the US Dollar, will assist to drive the increase of imported products to the country's shores. The world’s third largest investment bank Goldman Sachs said that South Africa is “The emerging market story for 2018”, this being a good indicator that the country is now finding the right track, also predicting interest rate cuts in 2018. The one downside of a stronger local currency will be the pressure it puts on the export market.
SO WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN FOR JAS ZA?
JAS ZA has done an immense amount of groundwork in 2017, putting in place measures to ensure they achieve their objectives in 2018. Critical to the success of the team in achieving their goal is to find the right balance between import and export volumes, as well as to look at new industry verticals.
Taking advantage of the favourable import conditions to South Africa will also be key to their success at achieving the growth targets. The team has been talking with a number of blue chip organisations, and many of the opportunities they have been collaborating on will start coming to fruition in the first quarter of 2018.
In terms of a new and improved service offerings, JAS South Africa is looking to further expand in some areas of their business. Investigating the viability of a trade finance solution as an additional advantage for new & existing clients, to be better than what any other forwarder has implemented so far. This solution is quite unique to the South African market due to local customs clearing practices, as well as clients wanting one company to handle their entire foreign trade activity, from purchase of goods to Forex management all tied in to the logistics of moving their cargo from factory to final consumer. JAS South Africa will be a leader in offering a full scope of services to our Customers.
Another focus area is going to be the general African market. JAS South Africa would like to develop this very important and emerging market with the vision to become the “Control Tower” for all trade into and out of Africa. The opportunities in these markets are bountiful, with many African countries still experiencing double digit growth figures annually.
BIG WINS FOR JAS SOUTH AFRICA SO FAR...
JAS ZA has secured the customs brokerage, warehousing and last mile distribution for Hanon Systems. JAS ZA controls the imports from Thailand & Korea and has worked closely with Hanon over the past couple of years to earn this business and build this relationship.
Our JAS Johannesburg warehouse now holds all inventory pertaining to the FORD RANGER PICK-UP from where we deliver directly into the HANON incubation centre at FORD for the production line. We are expecting around 400 to 500 Containers per annum throughput as well as an additional 250 Cubic meters of LCL cargo.
BEARING MAN GROUP
Anver Mayet, our JAS Johannesburg Business Development Manager, has secured a five year contract with the Bearing Man Group, which will mean JAS ZA will be handling all of their ocean freight forwarding business. The expected FCL volumes are around 1440 Containers per annum.
Through the consistent expansion of their operations since 1974, BMG have become Africa’s largest specialist distributor of engineering components, strategically positioned to service all sectors of industry including agriculture, mining, petrochemical, sugar, paper, general engineering as well as the automotive and domestic sectors.
The extensive range of products includes bearings, seals, power transmission components, drives, motors, materials handling, tools & fasteners, hydraulics, filtration, lubrication and field services.
JAS ZA looks forward to a mutually beneficial and long standing relationship with The Bearing Man Group.
James Roux, Key Account Manager in JAS Johannesburg, has bucked the import trend in South Africa, with the securing of an additional 2000 containers per annum of paper and paper related products which will be exported to the Far East, as well as European destinations. JAS ZA will be working hand in hand with Enpings’ suppliers to ensure that the operational aspects of this large export client are handled according to the clients exacting requirements.

During the last months, JAS EMEA was delighted to strengthen its structure in our sales and ocean product structures, in order to better support our regional development and our global development.
On the Sales side, JAS EMEA invited Ms. Hilary Bragg – formally JAS WW Strategic Business Unit Manager, to become our JAS EMEA Regional Tender Manager. Hilary started with us in January and has already brought great added-value to our region, giving new support to all EMEA countries and to the other JAS regions.
To support Hilary’s team, Mr. Alberto Pittaluga arrived a couple of months ago. He is now responsible for all regional air freight tenders and also engages in building very productive automated rating templates.
On the ocean freight side, our EMEA ocean product VP, Mr. Volker Beneke, recently structured his import and export ocean lane product management. This will allow JAS to improve our buying power and to better support, in various aspects, the EMEA countries and our network.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Sven Marsand as Regional Procurement Manager Import, and Jens Appel as Regional Procurement Manager Export. Both have an excellent background in ocean freight procurement, have worked for JAS Germany before and are ideally located to take on the new challenges.

As informed in March by our CEO, Mr. Marco Rebuffi, JAS Worldwide and GreenCarrier Freight Services (greencarrier.com) have formed a strategic alliance with the intent to expand trade and business between the Nordic and Baltic Sea region and the rest of the world.
Since then, a sales and operations meeting took place with JAS EMEA Management. Martin Spitzli – JAS EMEA VP of Air, and François-Xavier Mollet – JAS EMEA VP of Sales, both participated in Greencarrier’s Country Management meeting in Gothenburg to integrate our two companies. Martin Spitzli also participated in Riga (Latvia) to their Air Freight Management meeting.
On his side, Brahim Jarmache – JAS WW VP Agents, is working diligently to organize all the necessary set-up with each Greencarrier country offices in order to guarantee a smooth operations and netting integration.
Now, the focus is on our mutual development to make sure we have a full grip on the potential of our development. For this, one important milestone was the selection, by François-Xavier and Martin Svantesson – CCO of Greencarrier Freight Services, of Global & Multinational Accounts that JAS and Greencarrier will target and develop together. These companies are mainly local multinationals like Alfa Laval, Huqsvarna, SKF, Eletrolux, Ericsson, Tetra Pak, among others.
The strength of Greencarrier together with our JAS Network now allows us to propose a unique service opportunity for these target accounts and we cheer for our mutual development with them in the near future.

We are excited to announce that our Antwerp team has moved to a new location in the harbor area of Antwerp.
We spent the previous six years in a building about a mile away from our new location - our old office served us well but we couldn't be more excited about our new space.
Our new office has been stripped and refurbished to a high standard to offer light and space, which adds to the well-being of our human capital.
The new office is located on the fourth floor of one of Antwerp's oldest harbor office buildings and overlooks the dock activities of the port. Staring outside, we watch the docking and loading of the vessels and containers, which makes it a lively place to work in, in the middle of all the action.
It has been an exciting six years for JAS Belgium, and we look at this new location as the start of another chapter in our history. We'll be hosting a happy hour soon for our vendors and customers, and if you're in the area, feel free to stop in and say hi!

After a couple of fantastic years, JAS Netherlands met with several challenges the second half of 2016 and has come through with flying colors. A couple of events happened more or less simultaneously on the staffing side. Losing both branch managers at almost the same time, was in the end the climax of these events.
Fortunately we have been able to find great replacements and I’m happy to introduce our new core team:
1. Daan Hoek, General Manager
Daan started mid-January and comes from the contract logistics side of CEVA, after a good couple of years on the Forwarding side of EGL.
The structured approach of CL, already helped us to get back on track and we feel our team is fully back on track to support all clients and the network with the expected proactive and professional responses.
2. Said Aharchaoui, Air Product Manager
Said joined us end of last year and comes from Yusen Logistics and has a solid track record on the airfreight product and customer service side. The Amsterdam team is fully ready to support the network to handle some new business and we really need it since we lost the famous baby milk-powder business and the Chapter 11 impact of Heli One.
3. Mischa Jeronimus, Ocean Product Manager
Mischa is working for JAS since 2014 as Operations Manager. Mischa is now tasked with the Ocean Product. The Rotterdam branch really struggled due to various consecutive staffing issues (leaving the company, sick leaves etc.), but we are happy to report that we are fully back on track and ready to make a positive difference again.
The team is excited about the improvements made and is completely ready to support all of you moving forward. So bring it on!

JAS Forwarding is pleased to present the new management team for our important Trade Lane Germany – USA. Benjamin Gundlach, based in Munich, just joined JAS Germany as the new Trade Lane Director for the US beginning in May, 2016. Before he joined JAS Germany, Benjamin worked as Trade Lane Manager in Munich for the last year, right after returning from Atlanta, GA, where he worked as a Trade Lane/Sales Manager also with focus on Germany.
His counterpart, Bjoern Wiede, Trade Lane Director for Germany and based in Atlanta, GA, is a German-educated freight forwarder and has been living in the US for 13 years. Bjoern joined JAS in the beginning of February and most recently worked as Trade Lane Manager for the USA and Europe with a major forwarder.
With Germany being one of the top five trading partners for the USA and the USA being the number one trading partner for Germany, “Made in Germany” as a seal of quality is highly recognized amongst US companies driving exports and imports between both countries. Most German companies have since long established a foothold in the US market and are supplying American companies and consumers with their products and vice versa. The main industries that drive the trade between these economic powers have for several years remained but are not limited to manufacturing, healthcare and chemical, and of course, the automotive industries.
Benjamin’s and Bjoern’s focus will be to intensify JAS customer relations with German and American prospects, develop new business initiatives, and expand the current business relationship with our local and global JAS customer base geared towards their trade lane.
