JAS recently attended the 2017 Coverings Stone Fair, which took place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida from April 4th to April 7th.
The Coverings Stone Fair is the largest event in the vertical sector of stone, granite, marble, ardosias, quartzite, and travertine in North America. The event housed 900+ Exhibitors and 20 thousand visitors in an area of 350,000 square feet. The international exhibitors visit from Brazil, India, Italy, China, Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Argentina, and Spain.
The outcome of the event was a success. The speed of our growth has caused some disturbance between our competitors, which goes to show we are being recognized as a powerful company in this vertical. Most importantly, JAS continues to keep our marketing share in this vertical in order to prove to our customers and our competitors that JAS is in this vertical for the long term.
The JAS exhibit was located in a prime location, just in front of the the Arbirochas Pavilion. This location provided an increased volume of clients who passed the JAS booth. As a result of JAS' rapid development in 2016, the market acknowledgement and support from our long term partnerships with manufactuers, other suppliers, and consignees, the investment in this exhibit provided a positive number of prospective visitors and clients exceeding 75 companies to come to the JAS exhibit.
Going forward, JAS is looking to continue growth within the Ornamental Stone industry and attend more Coverings Stone Fairs in the future.
A luxury Italian fashion brand with the nickname “King of Cashmere," which was chosen by a member of the royal family, has entrusted JAS to provide top quality logistics services from Italy to one of the most important and rising consumer markets for the brand in China and Macau.
The journey of the garment on hanger, flat packs, handbags, accessories and CITES items start in Italy with JAS offices handling the air freight to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Macau.
With an extensive China network, JAS also handles delivery into nine shops in China and direct shipments to other China cities like Beijing, Changchun, Chengdu, Dalian, Harbin and Nanjing.
Shipments arriving into JAS Hong Kong logistics center in Tsing Yi will be pick and packed and then delivered into three local shops in Hong Kong.
In Macau, local orders will be sent as cross-dock shipments by feeder. Strategically and efficiently located, the JAS warehouse in Macau is 2km from the pier, 3km from Wynn Macau and 12km from Cotai. With a total area of 5,000 sqf, fully air-conditioned and state-of-the-art security systems including web-enabled CCTV monitoring system, security card access system, motion detectors and 7x 24 security patrol installed, we are proud of the lead time we achieve for the customer. Next day local shop delivery can be achieved for delivery order put in customer’s system before 1:00p.m. the previous day.

Although well known for its success in the granite market, our branch in Vitória will start to operate maritime and air import processes, which have always been the flagship of JAS Brazil.
During the last months, JAS EMEA was delighted to strengthen its structure in our sales and ocean product structures, in order to better support our regional development and our global development.
On the Sales side, JAS EMEA invited Ms. Hilary Bragg – formally JAS WW Strategic Business Unit Manager, to become our JAS EMEA Regional Tender Manager. Hilary started with us in January and has already brought great added-value to our region, giving new support to all EMEA countries and to the other JAS regions.
To support Hilary’s team, Mr. Alberto Pittaluga arrived a couple of months ago. He is now responsible for all regional air freight tenders and also engages in building very productive automated rating templates.
On the ocean freight side, our EMEA ocean product VP, Mr. Volker Beneke, recently structured his import and export ocean lane product management. This will allow JAS to improve our buying power and to better support, in various aspects, the EMEA countries and our network.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Sven Marsand as Regional Procurement Manager Import, and Jens Appel as Regional Procurement Manager Export. Both have an excellent background in ocean freight procurement, have worked for JAS Germany before and are ideally located to take on the new challenges.

We are excited to announce that our Antwerp team has moved to a new location in the harbor area of Antwerp.
We spent the previous six years in a building about a mile away from our new location - our old office served us well but we couldn't be more excited about our new space.
Our new office has been stripped and refurbished to a high standard to offer light and space, which adds to the well-being of our human capital.
The new office is located on the fourth floor of one of Antwerp's oldest harbor office buildings and overlooks the dock activities of the port. Staring outside, we watch the docking and loading of the vessels and containers, which makes it a lively place to work in, in the middle of all the action.
It has been an exciting six years for JAS Belgium, and we look at this new location as the start of another chapter in our history. We'll be hosting a happy hour soon for our vendors and customers, and if you're in the area, feel free to stop in and say hi!

As informed in March by our CEO, Mr. Marco Rebuffi, JAS Worldwide and GreenCarrier Freight Services (greencarrier.com) have formed a strategic alliance with the intent to expand trade and business between the Nordic and Baltic Sea region and the rest of the world.
Since then, a sales and operations meeting took place with JAS EMEA Management. Martin Spitzli – JAS EMEA VP of Air, and François-Xavier Mollet – JAS EMEA VP of Sales, both participated in Greencarrier’s Country Management meeting in Gothenburg to integrate our two companies. Martin Spitzli also participated in Riga (Latvia) to their Air Freight Management meeting.
On his side, Brahim Jarmache – JAS WW VP Agents, is working diligently to organize all the necessary set-up with each Greencarrier country offices in order to guarantee a smooth operations and netting integration.
Now, the focus is on our mutual development to make sure we have a full grip on the potential of our development. For this, one important milestone was the selection, by François-Xavier and Martin Svantesson – CCO of Greencarrier Freight Services, of Global & Multinational Accounts that JAS and Greencarrier will target and develop together. These companies are mainly local multinationals like Alfa Laval, Huqsvarna, SKF, Eletrolux, Ericsson, Tetra Pak, among others.
The strength of Greencarrier together with our JAS Network now allows us to propose a unique service opportunity for these target accounts and we cheer for our mutual development with them in the near future.

JAS TAILORED WAREHOUSING & DISTRIBUTION SERVICE IN MACAU
A prestigious Italian fashion conglomerate listed in Hong Kong entrusted JAS for a one stop shop supply chain solution from Europe to Hong Kong and Macau. Thanks to the close connections of the IT systems of the two companies, visibility of the supply chain can be seen by our customer in a timely manner.
The journey of the garment on hanger, flat packs, handbags, accessories and CITES items start in Italy and other European countries, with a JAS office handling the air freight and documentation for importation into Hong Kong and Macau.
Shipments then arrive into the JAS Hong Kong logistics center in Tsing Yi for piece level picking and packing, scanning and system update. Macau local orders are then sent as cross-dock shipments by feeder.
Strategically and efficiently located, the JAS warehouse in Macau is 2km from the pier, 3km from Wynn Macau and 12km from Cotai. With a total area of 5,000 sqf, fully air-conditioned and state-of-the-art security systems including web-enabled CCTV monitoring system, security card access system, motion detectors and 7x 24 security patrol installed, we are proud of the lead time we can achieve for our customers. Good receiving record will be in the customer’s SAP system by 11:00 p.m. the next day, and next day local shop delivery is accomplished from the delivery order put into the customer’s system before 1:00 p.m. the previous day.
Window display items are arranged via special night local delivery services in order to not affect any day time sales activities in retail shops. JAS is ready to provide flexible and tailored services to fashion customers as we have experience in serving most high-end fashion brands for more than 35 years and we can proudly say that “fashion is in our DNA”.
Vibrant Panama City, Panama was the scene for JAS Americas’ first annual meeting held April, 2017. Managing Directors for all countries (LATAM, North America, Canada, Mexico, SAM) were in attendance to collaborate and create further dialogue among Americas countries, as well as, with other JAS organizations. Lines of communication, sales challenges, successes, and information were exchanged between Americas' teams (including executives representing air & ocean products, along with Human Resources) and regional leaders from APAC (Tomas Sonntag), Italy (Stefano Castellazzi), and EMEA (Stefan Sigg). We were privileged to hear from, JAS Agent, Intermax (Mauricio Barrientos) and Power Business Intelligence SME, Scott Lunchbill, who lent expertise to assist all countries both technically and relationally, as they expand into the future.
Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) were discussed in detail by individual countries. Information was exchanged which opened dialogue and created future opportunities for areas across the world to work together, while creating further collaboration among those in attendance. Attendees gained new technical system information which provides up-to-the moment detailed statistics related to sales, billing, and process completion – data which offers customers many more reasons to choose JAS for solving their logistics needs and challenges.
The Branch Managers Meeting took place in Guaruja, Sao Paulo, Brazil and was joined by all of the directors, branch managers and commercial team to align goals and actions to be taken in 2017.
The three days of activities included presentations of budget goals for JAS Brazil, the strategy of each Branch Manager to reach it and also a commercial training day.
JAS Brazil has also rewarded its most profitable branch in 2016, JAS São José dos Campos, with a trophy to recognize their effort and motivate the team.
After a couple of fantastic years, JAS Netherlands met with several challenges the second half of 2016 and has come through with flying colors. A couple of events happened more or less simultaneously on the staffing side. Losing both branch managers at almost the same time, was in the end the climax of these events.
Fortunately we have been able to find great replacements and I’m happy to introduce our new core team:
1. Daan Hoek, General Manager
Daan started mid-January and comes from the contract logistics side of CEVA, after a good couple of years on the Forwarding side of EGL.
The structured approach of CL, already helped us to get back on track and we feel our team is fully back on track to support all clients and the network with the expected proactive and professional responses.
2. Said Aharchaoui, Air Product Manager
Said joined us end of last year and comes from Yusen Logistics and has a solid track record on the airfreight product and customer service side. The Amsterdam team is fully ready to support the network to handle some new business and we really need it since we lost the famous baby milk-powder business and the Chapter 11 impact of Heli One.
3. Mischa Jeronimus, Ocean Product Manager
Mischa is working for JAS since 2014 as Operations Manager. Mischa is now tasked with the Ocean Product. The Rotterdam branch really struggled due to various consecutive staffing issues (leaving the company, sick leaves etc.), but we are happy to report that we are fully back on track and ready to make a positive difference again.
The team is excited about the improvements made and is completely ready to support all of you moving forward. So bring it on!
On Friday May 19th 2017, a Town Hall meeting was held in Peru for the JAS team, where the management team announced the company's progress so far this year. The management team was joined by the project, finance, and sales teams. Each manager explained the progress of his area and team, and also shared a pleasant moment with all employees about the strategy and points to develop during the rest of the year.
Group Meetings like this one are imperative to the continued growth and development of JAS Peru. We are excited to see where the next year takes us.
