In the cold winter of 2009 / 2010 JAS Sweden was awarded a large job to Mexico for one of it’s VIP customers. Metso Paper AB, Karlstad just sold a complete paper machine to Mexico and the most important piece in this machine was given to our organization to handle.
The scope of work was from door-to-door including all heavy lifts in Sweden and on the northern continent as well as in Veracruz in Mexico. JAS Sweden and Mexico worked together to find various solutions on how to accommodate the almost 150 ton pieces with a length of approx 8,5 meter and a diameter of almost 6 meters. Master of the story was Mr. P-O Andersson of JAS in Sweden who basically worked this project 24 hours a day until the cargo was delivered to the site in Mexico.
A cold winter day in temperature of about minus 20 degrees cold and thick ice in the lake and river JAS Sweden arranged loading on a coaster in Karlstad which in it’s turn sailed to Antwerp for loading on ocean going vessel. JAS's own personnel supervised the loadings and re-loading and in mid February the piece sailed ex Antwerp.
In the first days of March JAS Sweden personally went with the customer to Mexico along with JAS's Mexico staff to supervise the discharge in Veracruz and to follow the transport ex port to site.
Due to bad weather during the voyage the vessel was running late but on March 14 the cargo finally was off-loaded safely at quay in Veracruz. Immediately upon arrival the nominated trucker by JAS started to prepare the very special trailer that was used to perform the last leg of the journey.
After various troubles while crossing cities and mountains on the way to the site the Yankee Cylinder was finally delivered in the first days of May.
How could we then accommodate this extremely challenging shipment? Johan Björklund MD in Scandinavia advises "We are a global company with good quality people who have a many years of experience with handling shipments like this. A special thank you to Mr. David Gonzales of JAS Mexico as well as all our partners used for this transport; carriers, stevedores and truckers."
"To move these types of pieces is starting to be a yearly experience for us" says Johan further and at the same time he says "We depend on our staff in Sweden to win these types of global shipments. Our employees have a long lasting experience with transports such as this and we are well known in Scandinavia for our superior work."
Again, JAS has performed a large task for a satisfied customer and again most important. without damages, in time and under full control.
"As a global company we are well equipped to be handle all types of shipments. Our staff continues to go the extra mile."

Johan Björklund
