A very important step toward recognition has been made by the Project Division of JAS Italy (headquartered in Rome) by being included in the Vendor List of the UNPD (United Nations Procurement Division - NYC).
This in addition to having successfully handled their first transport contract which has been awarded for the delivery to UNMIK (United Nations Mission in Kossovo) of 72 Toyota Land Cruisers and spare parts.
The shipment, originating from the port of Zeebrugge (Belgium) to final destination Pristina (Kossovo), required special car-trucks and RO/RO vessels from Trieste (Italy) to Durres (Albania) and then to Pristina.
The last leg of the shipment being particularly difficult due to the heavy weather conditions. Although quite challenging, the task has proved to be a very useful first experience for the Project Division of JAS Italy, especially in view of the growth of a stronger relationship with the U.N., which can be beneficial to the entire organization, given the impressive load of job opportunities.
The other two consignments, worth mentioning, have been successfully handled by JAS Italy Project Division on behalf of the Italian company Nuovo Pignone Spa (of the General Electric Group), having final destination the United Arab Emirates.
The first shipment, consisted in one 178-tonne compressor, one 103-tonne turbine and some other heavy lift pieces. They were moved from Marina di Carrara and Leghorn ports to Ras Laffan on one specially chartered ship "Stellaprima" equipped with cranes lifting up to 650 tonnes.
The second shipment, bound for Jebel Ali Free Zone, consisted in one 108-tonne compressor and other heavy lift pieces. The cargo was loaded at the seaport of Ancona (Italy) on the chartered vessel "Fairload".
