JAS Houston move 96 ton piece to Dalian, China

April 15, 2007

On Sunday, 4/15/07 it was finally done! The drawworks for an offshore drilling rig being assembled at the Dalian shipyards was finally loaded.

The unit had to be shipped by railcar from Edmonton, AB to Houston due to its high weight of 212,000 lbs. Heavy snow and a subsequent rail strike in Canada delayed the shipment initially, but JAS Houston was able to find the fastest and most economical shipping route by utilizing the many geared heavy lift shipping options from the Port of Houston.

The customers Dreco Energy Services, Edmonton and Noble Drilling, Sugarland, TX were satisfied with the personal attendance and expertise of Ingo Schmidt of the JAS Houston office which allowed them to meet their contractual deadlines.
