How to transport a large, extremely delicate tank across the Baltic Sea during a storm JAS Sweden’s possibilities to handle extreme cargo has increased dramatically during 2006. Last in the row of customers that have chosen the JAS service is the Swedish-based customer Cryo AB. Cryo manufactures high pressure tanks which as exported on a global basis.
In October 2006, JAS won a transportation ex Sweden to Poland of a tank for a bulkship which was built on shipyard in Poland. The gross weight of the tank is 114 metric tons with dimensions of 17,0 (length) by 5,80 (width) by 7,50 meters (height).
A chartered vessel was arranged to take the tank from Gothenburg to Gdansk in Poland and JAS Sweden coordinated the stevedores to load the tank onboard and also arranged for securing onboard the vessel.

Loading was performed on October 26 and vessel sailed later same evening and arrived safely at destination on October 29.
What was special about this shipment? A high pressure tank is a tank which is very sensitive despite its construction. A hit from the side while physically handling the tank means that same has to be taken back to workshop, as the tank will later contain gas and any scratch on the tank might jeopardise the safety on board as well as for the cargo later transported in this tank.
The tank was loaded under deck during its voyage to Poland and the transport was performed with very bad weather conditions (a storm), but due to the special lashing performed in Sweden all was delivered in good conditions.
Another big cargo handled by the Swedish JAS team.
