JAS Cargoways contracted to carry ISAF equipment and personnel.
Once again JAS Cargoways, Budapest has won the contract to transport military equipment and personnel to and from Afghanistan to fulfill Hungary’s NATO commitment for 2008.
Almost 35 tons of equipment was flown on a chartered Azerbaijani Il-76 coordinated to arrive just before the landing of the sizable contingent, which flew on a Ukrainian Tu-154 overnight.
The cargo plane had to arrive at least two hours before the aircraft carrying the troops, because on board were all the armaments and safety vests for the personnel, which was required immediately after arrival, considering the dangers posed by the possible presence of enemy fighters at the destination airport.
Both the passenger and the cargo aircrafts were chartered by JAS on behalf of the Hungarian Ministry of Defense. All the ground handling, loading of the huge freighter and catering for the troops for the 7 hour flight has been arranged by the local JAS staff.

The flights have reached their destination within the strict military "slot times" to the full satisfaction of this very special "client".
