Afghanistan NATO troops exchange program

JAS Cargoways secures a year long charter contract with Hungarian Ministry of Defense.

Troops and the cargo of military equipment and supplies are flown to and from Budapest, Hungary and various destinations within Afghanistan to fulfill the country’s NATO commitments.

JAS Cargoways, Budapest was successful in securing a year long charter contract with the Hungarian Ministry of Defense, Acquisition and Security Investment Bureau.

The exchange program includes from time to time some smaller contingent from neighboring Romania, Serbia and Croatia as well.

This year JAS Cargoways has completed nearly a dozen flights involving Il-76 and An-12 type cargo aircraft and Tu-154, Yak-42, MD-80 type passenger aircraft charters under very demanding conditions to and from airports without any basic facilities and often within active war zones.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian Military Transportation Center, for the excellent organization and performance of these charter flights, Paul Tonelli, Managing Director of JAS Cargoways, Budapest has been awarded a commemorative diploma and a decorative plaque by the Lt. Commander of the base.

Further flights are anticipated and JAS Cargoways, Budapest is working in hard competition with many of the large forwarders to earn the extension of this rewarding contract for the future.
